Surprise, surprise, the WHO was talking out of their ass about that too. Seems like the WHO is even more dysfunctional than our government.

Not sure I agree.  The couple articles I read basically had WHO walking back comments (undoubtedly because of political pressure) without really walking back the comments.  They basically stood behind the studies they cited, but added the caveat "but that's not proof it can't be spread asymptotically....we don't know everything yet".

All they did, effectively, was to give an out to the doomsday alarmist media to continue to ignore actual science as it suits them.

I saw Fauci's comment and it doesn't really align with what WHO actually said, including the alleged "retraction".

Dewine did her wrong.  I am against the type of heavy-handed lockdown/rules Ohio enacted during this time.  However Acton was advising as she saw fit from a public health perspective.  He job had nothing to do with considering economic or other impacts.  She was supposed to advise on the best steps for  public health.  Dewine paraded her out there each day and basically made her the scapegoat for what were really his decisions.  He offered an obligatory "the buck stops with me", like when protesters went to her home.  But that was BS.  He made her the "bad guy" for this from the beginning.  He should never have brought her to the forefront like that.

Acton took the newly created position of Chief Health Advisor. Her old position of Health Director was given to an attorney. It looks like she will still be doing the health, and the other will handle the lawsuits.

Cut & pasted this post from Facebook (omitted some of it). Not sure how accurate..

Here are the facts from Ohio’s Department of Health web site and other news items of note:

• Cases of the potentially deadly infection have fallen by one-third from early May, despite fears of outbreaks as Ohio reopened for business and large protests and gatherings happened over the past several weeks.

• Ohio averaged 605 new cases a day from May 1-10, a figure that fell 33%, to 407 new daily infections, over the first 10 days of June.

• The number of confirmed and probable cases decreased even as COVID-19 testing increased.

• Testing for the virus increased 58%, from an average of 7,002 a day in early May to 11,098 a day in June.

• Ohio’s nursing homes and long-term-care facilities filled with the elderly and ill account for 24% of all virus cases statewide — and, with 1,745 dead, about 71% of all fatalities.

• Thirty-nine percent of virus victims have been between the ages of 60 and 79, while those age 80 or older account for 53% of all deaths.

• The annual salary of Amy Acton will remain the same at $185,293, even though she is stepping down and taking a lower position.

Hospitalizations of coronavirus patients fell 21%, from an average of 82 a day in early May to 64 a day, in the opening days of June

Is Ohio doing anything differently than states that are seeing increases?  Are people voluntarily wearing masks (I though DeWine ordered that and then rescinded after facing a public backlash)?

Even now I just can't see much correlation between preventative measures and infection rates.  Although I do believe social distancing and masks are worthwhile.

We've noticed a huge decrease in mask wearing around Cincinnati. It used to be 90/10 masked when we'd go out, now it's closer to 40/60 I'd guess.

Major decrease in masks in Akron. Very depressing. I still wear mine and plan to for quite some time.

Yeah, I don't see what the issue is with wearing them. The biggest inconvenience for me is my glasses fogging up but big deal.

We will be masking up for quite some time. I agree that it’s depressing to see so many people not taking precautions.

Have you tried putting a Kleenex between the top of your mask and your face?

People just get off to rebelling and stickin' it to the Gubment, evil libs, blah blah! Morons.

The masks never really bothered me. I have a lot and always keep one on me, it's second nature now. Keys, phone, wallet, mask.

That, and people are just plain selfish.  Forget about "Do Unto Others" - people conform generally only due to peer pressure and/or laws.  Social norms are learned behaviors, so new norms aren't going to happen spontaneously overnight.

Masks don't bother me, either.  I'll probably also continue to order most of my stuff from Amazon (including groceries) simply because they've made it so easy and inefficient (plus usually free) for returns.  Won't be going back to the gym for quite a while, either, because I've found with a few modifications I can pretty much do my entire workout at home.

The gym will be one of the last places I choose to return to. Speaking of home workouts during all of this. I've been trying to get resistance bands for weeks (legit ones, saw too many terrible reviews for Chinar knockoffs).

Still no luck. I'm over doing guided workouts in front of the TV. I've only been running regularly. Fortunately I'll be able to start biking next week in Denver. I depart tomorrow.

Bars are open there, assuming outdoor only? I'm not gonna know behave myself.

My wife has been back to the gym for a few weeks now. We've dined-in a few times now, and ate in outdoor seating areas a decent amount since things have opened up. We're selfish monsters, we know.

I don't expect people to wear a mask at the gym or a restaurant.  But people choose to go there.  Grocery, barber, pharmacy, doctor, etc and other places people have to go then everyone can wear a mask.

The big question is when do I go back to the dentist....

I got some to replace cables (wish I had space for a squat rack with a cable attachment!).  IMO, they all suck for the simple reason the tension isn't constant - start out with like 50 lbs of resistance and end with 150.  Might work as a change of pace for more advanced lifters, or for warming up.  But for most of the ROM you have either too little or too much tension.

Since the resistance tends to increase linearly, your best bet might be the longer ones (like 82 inches).  As long as you can get to minimize the resistance variance between start and finish.

My husband has been to the gym twice since reopening. He did not feel comfortable with the amount of people nor the lack of precautions everyone seemed to be taking, so he will not be going back for a while.

He's back at work full time, but other than that, we're still only doing grocery stores and outdoor gatherings with the same small group of people. I've seen my parents three times, but only outside or in their walkout basement.

It sucks, but I'm just not ready to get back to normal. The numbers in FL, TX and AZ do nothing to ease my anxiety.

I had actually purchased a PF membership, during the winter, for the treadmill only (have the garage gym and my treadmill got trashed). Went up and cancelled it last Saturday.

What sucks for me is my girlfriend babysitting the grandkids. Their parents have 4 different jobs, with 4x's the exposure, while I'm staying home, only going out for groceries/necessities. Then she comes home so who knows what she's been exposed to. The kids are all under 33, so they likely aren't getting it, but they could be carriers and pass it on. As I've mentioned, I'm in no hurry to get back to the office.

I get it. My sister works at a home improvement store, which obviously never shut down. They don't require masks for customers, and fewer and fewer people are wearing them. So many people go in for small things like batteries that they could easily get online. It's a frustrating situation.

My husband works with the public and interacts with dozens of people daily as well. I'm not a fan!
