$2k-ish on ebay.

I'll take that.  Probably going to hang onto it until at least after he retires.  Maybe after induction.

Shoot, I might just give it to my kid when she's old enough to be responsible for it.

Yeah, if you don't need the money I'd sit on it. All cards are going absolutely insane right now, though. It'd be hard not to sell at this point.

What did it cost to get it graded? Did you just send in the one card or go through a group buy?

My brother is a PSA member, so I just sent it with him, as he was sending in a bunch of his cards as well.  I wouldn't know the first thing about doing it myself, as I've never done it.  He said it'd run me about $20, so that's what it cost me.

Grading is pricey. My lord. Looks nearly $20 or so a card. If it’s not a high end player old card in tremendous shape or a rookie card of HOFer....I don’t see the purpose. Though I can see the current market for like a Bryce Harper or Mookie PSA 10 to sell now and make money that way....but if their careers fall off some and they don’t sniff the HOF or aren’t you’re favorite players....$20 is steep for that.

I had 3 graded about 20 years ago by Beckett and it came to I think $35 back then.

I just found this on facebook, as I've heard of groups like this. Basically, you send your cards to this guy, and puts together HUGE bulk orders and gets the price down to $11 per card.

Ho. Lee. Shit.

Even holier shit. I posted that link with not much time to go in the auction and it was at $10k. Just checked it and it ended at almost $20k.

Rookie.  Autographed.  PSA Rated 9.

Also, I'm not sure basketball cards ever took the hit that baseball cards did as a result of the trash wax era.

People home with money and bored. A newer age collector I’d guess.

My buddy has these incredible basketball cards from the late 60’s if Wilt, Alcindor, Oscar....worth about $200 or less.. Not the value of baseball for cards in 50’s-80’s.

That makes sense.  The trash wax era part was just a guess, too.  I have the unfortunate position of most of my baseball cards being from that era, so I'm a little salty about it.

Yeah, sure. But $115k? That's absolutely insane.

It's definitely extreme.  Still, you have to think an autographed rookie card is rare.  Coupled with the condition it's in and the fact that it's a generational player in the discussion for the GOAT, and I can see the draw.

I'll never forgive myself for this transgression. I won a 2010 Bowman Pristine Mike Trout Auto refractor on twitter. I sold it shortly after I received it for the then going rate of 30 fucking dollars.
