posted by Dr Winston O'BoogieThe concept of the wall is based on the fact that immigrants are dangerous - very simple. In fact, you have a lot more to worry about from right inside your own city as opposed to these muderous invadors from the south. Most of these people are here for the same reasons our ancestors came - to make a better life for their families. What many had to endure to get here is risky and dangerous. Most are here to pursue the American dream just like we do. People say "well do it legally". I will say two things to that: one, yours and my ancestors just showed up here too. They didn't need to jump through the hoops that are in place today in order to stay. By today's standards, they were "illegal" to in the sense that there was no formal requirement for them. Had they been required to "do it the right way" according to the rules of today, it is likely many of them would never have made it here. Second, most of these people are here working their ass off to make it. They pay taxes and are law abiding. They fill a huge segment of our workforce that would otherwise be struggling mightly. I can learn a lot from the work ethic I see them practice everyday right in my own community. Say what you want, but the wall is based ultimately on fear. Fear of people that are different. Focusing on selected criminal cases paints a picture that isn't true. These immigrants are law abiding at a rate higher than our native born population.
I try to imagine what Christ would have to say about a wall. When I think about it that way, it is clear to me what is right.
You don't have to imagine what Christ would have said. He told Nehemiah to build the wall.
