Neither is worse than slavery. And the Japanese held in interment camps were compensated if I remember correctly. Are we really comparing getting raped and having your baby sold to having to go to your second choice of colleges? Also I see that minorities get the blame but white parents who pay large sums of money to get their kid in goes under your radar. Weird

1.) I said it was more of accurate of a comparison, which I still think it is.

2.) There are no black people alive today who were raped and had their baby sold as a result of slavery. There are Asians who are still alive who were put into internment camps. There are Asians are having affirmative action weaponized against them, which I might add, is being fully supported by groups like the SPLC to this very day.

3.) Yes, let's talk about the rich white openly progressive democrats disregarding meritocracy AND affirmative action, altogether. I have no problem having a discussion about that. Because it is a secret to nobody that rich people pay entry for their children, including schools, jobs, marriages, etc., and that it has been happening since Europe was a thing, probably clear back to before Etruscans, Egyptians, whatever time period we can throw a dart at. Let's go all the way back to when "rich" people paid ten goats so that their daughters could marry into prestige.
But that is a class discussion, is it not? Ethnicity is no indication to class.

4.) I did not say, when I said it was a more accurate comparison, that it was a 100% equal comparison. That was you jumping to conclusions and projecting your views into what I said and you really should stop doing that. It doesn't help your argument.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I see no comparison between slavery and affirmative action in college admissons

Really glad you left out the openly supported discrimination part of it. Wow, what would anybody think if we didn't over simplify and leave whole sections out of it. Gosh!

Oh and while you hug yourself let's not forget what I said just yesterday:

Just putting this out there because Tommy Sotomayor does make a good point. And I will say this as somebody who had nothing to do with slavery - he makes a point:

and I left a link to a Dave Rubin podcast where he had on Tommy Sotomayor. They talked about reparations, the black community, the problems with identity politics, etc.

For those that didn't watch I transcripted the exact wording of the time where they specifically talked about reparations (minus Dave Rubin's commentary).

I do think they are owed but how would you figure it? How would you figure this out? I think they're owed because I saw what they did to the Jews and they're continually paying them. If you don't pay this group but you will pay that one then you have to explain why. If what happened with the Japanese that were interred here for a little while, they were compensated,   the indians were compensated. Black Americans ought to be compensated for something I would assume. But then the logistics of it. Who pays what, where does it go, who actually had lineage. Because I'm not mistaken only two - eight percent of whites actually owned slaves. It wasn't like everybody had slaves. So where do you... how do you calculate this money and who actually gets it. Because not every black person who is in America came from a slave neither. It would be just a nightmare.

So while geeblock likes to pretend he doesn't understand (and who knows, maybe he doesn't) the difference between "this is a more accurate response" and "this is the 100% equivalent" this is the exact reason why so many people do not even want to have a discussion on reparations. It's because others try to shut you down immediately. His arm-flailing response to anything to realistic questions is just an easy example to point out.

That would be like me, who had female ancestors from Europe that, for all I know,  could have been burnt at the stake because they knew that certain plants had healing qualities/somebody else's cow got sick and died - I therefore should have all men who have any type of Catholic and/or European ancestry give me $20,000.
But I don't because I didn't know any of those fucking people AND THEIR PAIN IS NOT MINE. It was an unfortunate period of history and over time we became more knowledgeable and better. Period.

This is very accurate.  But in my experience, most people externalize their own shortcomings/failures.  Black or white, male or female, they all scapegoat whomever they've been conditioned to.  People think by demonizing the white male that they are fighting a lot of discrimination and harassment, but in reality they are actually perpetuating and increasing it.

As far as the whole they are dead now argument. My grandparents and my parents suffered through Jim Crow and I can say it was almost as bad as slavery. The laws were on the books but you could still kill a black person and the jury would be out 15 minutes. They had no access to education and needed military intervention to go to a good school or college.. there is actually video so we don’t have to have conjecture. This did affect my life PERSONALLY...the generational wealth that I was denied is actually something. I know you and most here were the “bootstrap” peeps and were self made but ur take is a bad take! Go basketball I am at the bar typing this as I drink patron

Yes, I did. Because you leave out half of what has been said to make conclusions to fit your feelings. You're not only bad at having a discussion but you flat out lie as well. Good game!
