I don't think New York City is going to feel any effect from this.  Perhaps if it were Austin, Columbus, Atlanta, Denver, etc.  But it wasn't.

Have you been to NYC?  I feel like you're just thinking Manhattan when it comes to NYC.  I don't really give a fuck about NYC and they will probably be "ok," but the area Amazon was going to build HQ2 would have benefited greatly.  I'd recommend you checking it out. Not to mention the amount of jobs opening for people who live in NJ, up state NY, and even in PA.  Amazon will also be fine and I am sure a city will be very happy to take them on (if they decide not to put it all in Crystal City), but for activists to celebrate that many jobs leaving the city is pathetic and insane at best.

The VP has to be 30

It took me under 15 seconds to do a Google search that proves you wrong. Well, technically, it took me simply knowing this because I at least have a bare-bones knowledge of shit; but it took 15 seconds at most to type in a search, watch the page load in and read the answer to have actual proof that, once again, you have no actual knowledge about how anything works, but a true willingness to shit out your stupid opinions constantly regardless of that stupidity.

And as a former HS Government teacher, I say..............Jesus, CC!

BTW, the youngest VP was John Breckinridge (under James Buchanan) at 36 years old.

I guarantee there is a significant part of the population who wouldn't know the 35 year requirement for POTUS/VP. However, I would say that is far less than 10% that don't know it out of those that converse/post/etc about politics on a regular basis. Most of us that do have a general to above average (at least) understanding on how the US Constitution is laid out and how the federal government works.

For instance, if I had to guess, my wife, sister in law, brother in law, my own sister, etc all wouldn't know the 35 year old rule. They all got that right back in high school to pass the test for government class, but none of them pay much attention to politics now (ok, my sister maybe some, she would be the most likely to know but not because any of them are smarter than the others). I think a very high percentage of people who don't care about politics probably don't know these requirements.

However, those of us who are into/discuss politics a lot should know this.

Apparently CC/Spock is in that (estimated) 10% that have no clue.

Check out the sign in Times Sq.! ⁦Thanks to ⁩!

“The Amazon pullout is a perfect example of what we’ve been saying: socialism takes and capitalism creates,” Alfredo Ortiz, JCN president and CEO said in a release on Wednesday.

“The economic consequences of the HQ2 termination gives America a small taste of the harm that is to come if Ocasio-Cortez’s anti-business canon comes to fruition and is made federal policy.”

At least they don't have to "give" any money to Amazon now.

First off, yes I have been to NYC and to the outer boroughs multiple times.  I get what you're saying about it affecting specific neighborhoods or employees who work there.  My point - phrased poorly - was that the overall NYC economy would not significantly be affected with our without Amazon's HQ merely because of its immense size.  That's all.  I think it's a shame what happened there and if I lived there, I'd be pissed.

While I come down on the side of Amazon 90% in this fiasco, I will say that I am not impressed with the company's lack of grit in dealing with local NYC politics.  It should not be news that NYC presents unique aspects in this area that other places may not.  When they decided to go there, they should have been better prepared to withstand some of this nonsense.  They took it personally.  As Michael Corleone said, "It's just business; it's not personal".

Let's say I were to open a branch of my scrapyard business in NYC.  When some goon shows up to arrange to offer protection and also requiring union spots, it isn't right.  But I'd be a jackass not to see that one coming.

Good God.  Is it true you are a teacher?  Maybe you don't teach civics, but couldn't you have googled this real quick before coming out with this botched late term abortion?

I was going to object, but everyone else has taken care of it.
How lazy are you to not Google a quick, concrete, easily-knowable fact.

Always fact-check Limbaugh.

Hell, always fact-check any political talking head if you're going to repeat anything they say.  They have the factual authority of a YouTube comment section.

Would NYC have been better off with Amazon; certainly.  But is America now better off for having AOC and her ilk exposed for their economic illiteracy – absolutely.

She apparently understands economics will enough to funnel $6,000 to her boyfriend though a PAC.

That’s actually worse than not knowing it yourself and not googling it. Congratulations I didn’t think you could look worse and I was wrong.

This is why the russian election meddling didn't have to involve Trump. Put a bunch of false shit out there, all of it bad against Hillary, get 1 or 2 stories to stick and take off in the political news circles, and no one checks it, millions buy it.

it's actually impressive. no doubt they played us.

Too bad the legal prez age wasn’t 48; we could have avoided the 8-year disaster from 2008-2016.

Why fight for the ‘privilege’ of paying more than double for real estate, and maintenance, and wages etc..etc…. on top of dealing with ungrateful and ignorant politicians.  Screw ‘em; go elsewhere, be wanted, and save money.
