I just reread it. It was even more absurd the second time around. I'm really starting to hate the word problematic. Everything is problematic these days.

That article offended me.  For many reasons, none of which was a point the writer attempted to make.

Especially that the writer doesn't appear to understand the fundamental premise of Seinfeld.

Right. It's a show about 4 awful people doing awful things. That's the joke.

Actually, the show is about NOTHING!

My favorite is her take on Cedric and Bob.  If anything, wouldn't they be the opposite of of the homosexual stereotype, especially in the 90s?  She obviously never watched the show.  One one her superiors gave her a list of "problematic" scenes and told her to write an article to virtue signal about them.  I am sad I gave the link a click.

I like how she used "latinx" instead of referring the two guys as latino.

I mean, what do actual hispanic people have to say about dropping the "a" and "o" conventions from the Spanish language?  Not even sure how you'd pronounce latinx when speaking.

So what year was it great?

Maybe the year before public housing came into existence that began the effective imprisonment of generations of people beholden to liberals which, coupled with welfare, caused the breakdown of the family and the estrangement from becoming productive members of society.  Just one guess.

Try the 1930s.  I think that was something from FDR.  It sounds like something from FDR anyway.

His post literally is in a nutshell what trump supporters really care about. Any other issues are mere window dressing. They are willing to put up with almost anything in order to see this issue addressed even if it goes against their own personal self interests

Has nothing to do with Trump. People have thought that for, probably, as long as I've been alive. That means conservatives and liberals. Principles often have the side effect of not having any personal gain.

Besides all of that, what exactly is so wrong with wanting to see people do better for themselves after a period of time? I'm going to guess that most people who have had to use some sort of welfare and then are able to get off of it are quite proud of the fact. IMO it is not a shame to have to use it, it is a shame to stay on it.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that self-interest isn't something we should actually use to vote anyway.  What is "right" isn't always what is best for me.

As to the rest, I don't think it's as simple as that, either.  I think there are several things that Trump supporters hold as important.  Now, that isn't to say that they don't shoot off on just about anything, and I'm not necessarily saying that what they hold as important is effectual (football man no stand up), but I think that while there were main focuses to the campaign, the supporters generally care about the same stuff they have since before he took office.  We're just talking about different things in the proverbial public square.

I think it's a lot more about "my guy won" than actually liking or endorsing Trump.

From my perspective, the world isn't burning despite supposedly ending 2 years ago.  The SCOTUS is not packed with liberals.  And I like me some divided govt and gridlock.

It's all window dressing.  This clown came in, and in less than 18 months, erased virtually every Obama act and achievement with the exception of the Affordable Care Act.  The POTUS in this day of bloated govt is far more public relations than leader.

Heck, even trade deals can be ripped up.  Congress has the real power, and you don't see very many laws get re-written or repealed.

Well he was just touting last week that unemployment was under 3% and an all time low. So technically America is great now and 97% of people are working. If that is the case I wouldn’t think it would be as important of an issue as let’s say fixing healthcare or social security. Also no matter how much money we save by taking it away from helping poor people, the govt isn’t going to lower yiur taxes or give you the money back.

They LITERALLY just lowered our taxes this past year....

That is generally what they do when they want to get re elected. It will even back out

Yeah, if the rank-and-file are going without, there's no reason the shit at the top of the hill deserves to be getting anything, especially considering the shutdown essentially lies at the feet of the president and congress and the others are at their mercy.
