I like Trump. Even had a yard sign this year (first one since Gary Johnson 2012).
posted by kizer permanenteI can't even think of anyone on here except you that says they actually like him. What are you talking about? And this place has always leaned conservative.
You must wear an incredible set of blinders daily.

Proudly voted for Gary in 2012 and 2016.

Never knew you as a Trump guy.

Must. Or we just don't run in the same circles?

Obviously - I seek to understand the position of those I oppose. Seems like the other side is busy bastardizing dissenting opinions.

More likely. I don't know one person who liked Harris or thought she was qualified/capable so your comment is correct.

I knew plenty of people who didn't like Harris. Not one willing to admit, at least, that they liked Trump. A few that were going to vote for him b/c of how much they didn't like Harris. More that just weren't going to vote for either.

I voted for him in 2020 (Gary Johnson in 2016), but that was more of a "lesser of two evils" vote. This year was different.

I get why people vote for him. I just never could, personally. I couldn't stand him when he was just a celebrity though. Everything about his personality is and always has been a huge turnoff for me.

As I mentioned before, Trump can be pretty off putting to those who aren't all in on the "rah rah MAGA Kool-Aid" but his policies/platform were what I was looking at. My take is "always the policies, despite who the person might be."
posted by Trueblue23Stay off Reddit man, the echo chamber isn't good for you. "You don't meet a single person who actually likes the guy" riiiiiiiiight
I am not on anything except OC and Twitter. And I specifically follow both sides on Twitter -- news agencies, immediately block the randoms.
But what crowd are you running in that likes the guy? Having a loyal fanbase is not the same as being liked. My entire extended family is conservative, they all hate the guy, but are never crossing party lines. Same with a bunch of my friends. I mean, yes, I do not live in Texas, or Florida, or the flyover states -- I am in IL, so the chance is already dwindled. But even when we were up at my Step-MIL farm in Wisconsin this summer, it was "God I cant believe we have to vote for Trump again".

Liking his policies, voting for him, etc =/= liking him. That is what I am talking about. Very few people think he is a good human being.
I don't know any conservatives that hate him. Most see him as he is, a flawed human with plenty of baggage but ultimately the right guy for the job.
I've grown to actually like him. I think he's one of the all-time great comedians. Would love to have a beer with him if he drank.
Again, flawed human, and sometimes I wish he'd just shut up. But my overall sentiment towards him is highly positive.

I think this is the belief of many who voted for him. Sure, there are people with blinders on but most know he's flawed. Old saying, "even a fish wouldn't get caught if it would keep it's mouth shut."

Couldn't have said it any better.

I was a never Trump type Republican until this election.

At what point do you go from “flawed” and “a lot of baggage” to a really shitty person?

When you block DNA testing that could free a potentially innocent man from Death Row?

There is no daylight between shitty and sadistic.
