I also don’t believe reverse racism is a thing, he obviously does. I also don’t disagree with everything he says. Both things can be true, this country has a long way to go as far as racism is concerned, and blacks are also doing better than they ever have.

As far as him getting called an Uncle Tom, perhaps he should give original thoughts or ideas that sound like he thought them up, not just repeat the same talking point that I could read on a tomi Lahren tweet or on the tucker Carlson rap up. I’m not real familiar with him and have only heard him speak a couple times, but it does come off as a black face simply repeating lines that have already been said in other conservative outlets. If he wants to gain credibility he needs to move off of the party lines and find his own voice. Other than that it just looks like the gop continues to just not read the room and try the same tactics and strategies they have used for that last 50 years.

Lol. He also put forth a police reform Bill, which is not “republican” at all. He’s from my state and seems like a pretty straight shooter, not just another Boebert or other republican lemming.

I also find it amusing when the left makes fun of Scott as a token and only black republican in the Senate, while the Dems have the large number of.... 2.

Finally listened to the tim scott speech.. so basically he said it’s not a racist country and then tells how many times he felt the pain of discrimination? What am I missing?  Smh

You are missing the definition/difference between individual racist people, and institutional racism.

He is saying that racist people still exist, but the government isn't sponsoring it like it did for about 170 years (legalized slavery then all the way into Jim Crow laws).

Hope that helps.

1. Do you mean the term "reverse racism" isn't a think and it is only "racism"? Or do you mean that black people can't be racist? There are two thoughts prevalent to "reverse racism isn't a thing" and I was just curious which one of those two thoughts you meant.

2. So Tim Scott is an Uncle Tom because he didn't come up with "new" thoughts? Come on geeblock, you shouldn't be defending anyone calling a black man an Uncle Tom. That is a racist epithet and you know it.

I wasn't trolling, that's what those parts of his speech were directly about and you said you didn't understand. So I tried to make it simpler.

He is saying that racist people still exist, which is why he has had to deal with racism, but the government itself is not racist.

Hope it helped that time. I can say it again if you still don't understand what he meant.

Are the police not part of the government?  He stated that he has been pulled over 20 times for having a nice car?  If you just chalk that up to a one off of racist individuals you start to see the disconnect between him and what people see in real life.  The entire police/court system is absolutely slanted against poor people and black people make up most of  the poor people.   Meaning black people are documented by many studies to most likely to receive longer sentences, jail over probation, ect..than white people with similar records and crimes.

So when he tells people that their feelings aren't valid and they dont understand what is happening, of course he is not going to be accepted.  He basically is saying that im smart and you are dumb and blind let me help you understand. Just because something is taken out of the law books doesnt remove the problem from society when it has been interwoven into our fabric.  Did people stop drinking during prohibition?  Cocaine is illegal do people not do drugs?   There is a huge difference from clapping your hands and saying welp hey there are no laws stopping anyone from being successful, and examining the effects of the 170 years of oppression that you mentioned.

I'm quite sure his 20 traffic stops don't reflect what happens to other poor black people, once he flashes his credentials, so again he is lacking a connection to the people he is trying to convince that they should listen to him.

As far as his talking points like i said i don't disagree with everything he says.  Every part of this country isn't racist, and black people are doing better than ever.  That being said nothing he said is any different than the information put out after the biden speech from tomi, candace owens or tucker carlson.  Unless you can point out things that i have missed.

I wouldn't agree with white people using the term uncle tom, however I would never tell another black person they couldnt use it if thats how they really felt.  I don't know enough about him to know whether or not he believes what he says or not to make that judgement.  I really only heard of him this week.  He seems to tell people to not play the victim and then play the victim.  He seems to feel like he and other white people are now experiencing racism. (he talks a lot about white oppression which i'm sure is popular and will get him re-elected but again is that the most important issue right now? even if you think its a problem?)  This again hurts his credibility.

As far as reverse racism goes i will never put in on the scale of real racism to even have that conversation.  Most of your examples of it will center around a college application or scholarship or a job opportunity that went to a minority while ignoring the other 50 that went to some other white person because their parents are important or rich.

overall like i said its not all gloom and doom like the dems would say and its not nearly as great as tim scott would have you believe.  i can totally understand why he doesnt seem to be able to make a connection with black people. It didnt come off as authentic to me.  he seemed to be talking down to people.  I also think it  was terrible optics for them to trot him out there to do the response in the first place.  They dont seemed to have changed one thing since 1985 and still arent reading the room, that most people simply dont agree with them.  They really need to come with some new ideas or policies that reflect how this country has changed in the last 40 years

1. So you admit that the justice system is "slanted" against poor people and not necessarily blacks, then you realize your mistake and say "oh, and blacks make up most of the poor people". It can't be both, either the system is slanted against poor or blacks, can't have both.

2. He NEVER told people their feelings aren't valid. Did you even see the speech? You can't just insert things that were not said. It ruins your whole rest of your post/argument to say that he said something that he most certainly did not. That takes away your "I'm smarter than you" argument for him as well.

3. The problem with your next argument is that the median age for all minorities is 31 years old. So roughly half of the minorities were born between 1990 and now, 30+ years after the last government sponsored racism was perpetrated. Are you really trying to tell me that the majority of minorities alive today are being "kept down by the white man" even though they themselves have never experienced government sponsored/systematic racism, and they were even born 30+ years AFTER it was over? Come on, even their grandparents who ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH Jim Crow laws are laughing at that dumb idea.

4. There is actually government sponsored racism against whites now to "make up" for all the government's wrongs of the past. You actually mentioned one of them in affirmative action and college acceptance credentials. On top of that there are many government contracts that they SPECIFICALLY will only give to minority owned businesses and/or they give minority owned businesses the first look regardless of their credentials.

You lost the argument when you said that he told other black people their feelings were invalid. Nothing was even close to being said that resembled that at all.

Meh his speech was longer but basically could have summed it up by saying what Mitch McConnell said and said that it can’t be racist because obama being president and kamala being Vice President proves it. Same exact message jut a lot shorter.

I didn’t say he came out and said that their feelings were invalid but he basically says they are wrong. That they are being tricked.

As far as the rest of that we’ve covered that before.

Sending out the black guy to tell people it’s not racist is just stupid. That in itself is something he shouldn’t do if he doesn’t want to be called an Uncle Tom. He got exactly what he wanted. Just sending him out there like that is a terrible optic in my opinion. It’s like sending an Italian guy out there to tell you that Italian food isn’t good  but your favorite food is lasagna. Just my opinion.

LOL, "black man that doesn't agree with me is an Uncle Tom".

If a white person said that, they would deserve to be called a bigoted POS.

Highlight the part where I said he was an Uncle Tom and yes if a white person said that they would be a POS

I specifically said 3 times at least I wasn’t calling him an Uncle Tom. Please read and don’t make up things

I’m saying it’s literally the number 1 easiest way to get callled an Uncle Tom that’s actually the way to go about it. They knew it would happen and now they have Ammo to bash the dems and cry tears

So what you are really concerned about is the narrative being challenged.

I get it your not calling the guy an Uncle Tom directly.  I mean if he does not want others to call him an Uncle Tom...  it is quite clear "in your opinion" he should just shut the fuck up.

If it is such a terrible optic you would not be so rattled.

Of course not.  A few weeks back Biden was running around using the term "worse than Jim Crow" referring to the state of Georgia reforming their voting laws.  It was complete hogwash.  I am guessing Scott has made that shit a little tougher to sell.

Maybe Tim Scott is willing to take the Uncle Tom arrows because he actually believes what he is saying and is hoping to change some minds.

Go back up and read your post. You 100% said that Scott said people’s feelings were invalid.

That was your exact words which is why I said you said it.

You can’t change it now just because you realize he didn’t really say that and/or were caught telling a lie.

So by your last paragraph you are ok with people being racist and calling him an Uncle Tom because he was acting like an Uncle Tom and he deserves it?

That’s kind of racist of you...

Lol I wasn’t literally saying he said those words so idk if it came off that way. Not sure why you even think that was an important part of everything I said. Or why you are still arguing about it after I said that’s not what I meant. U actually can’t have a normal conversation without trying to find some argument to have or find a gotcha moment. This ain’t it.

As far as people calling him an Uncle Tom, that’s really not my business to tell them how to feel. I didn’t call him one. You probably have to be black to even understand the nuances of the words.

The GOP optic is worse than any optic I have towards him personally. I do think  they used him and I don’t think it changed anyone’s belief on either side. He seems like a good guy so I hope they don’t use him and toss him to the side when they don’t need him anymore.

Lol u get so mad when people  call you racist but love to call others racist. When Jesse Jackson or Al sharptons name get brought up here, or anywhere really, they get the same treatment that the left gives tim scott. Stop crying with all the fake outrage.
