But, the question is that it was way later than the deadline set forth in the original bill. The legal question is that deadline was in the preamble, not the main body, so does it technically apply?
The National Archivist has said based in their view, it was too late and have not advanced it to officially be an amendment.
Biden's statement does nothing to change that.
Not only that but several states have rescinded their approval by this point and the freaking Amendment was first voted on by Congress in 1972?
Sorry, but it’s not the 28th Amendment. It can’t be a 50+ year process. It had a 7 year time limit for approval, not 50+
And I don’t necessarily have anything against the ERA, but saying this is now the 28th is about as dumb as saying “pack the SCOTUS with like 15 judges”.
