I mean each day it goes longer, the less likely all the hostages currently alive survive and pressure just increases on Israel to make a deal.

The bad deal assures more hostages will be gathered in the future and suffer the same fate.

Biden and Kamala are pretending that they added a 28th amendment, “The equal rights amendment”. Biden declared it!

I had to look and see if he had the Archivist change their mind and position. But, nope. So, a meaningless statement too late in the game.

I do think the issue needs to go through the courts to determine if the amendment did miss the deadline or not. I think it did, but understand the gray area.

Hold on, I don't remember 2/3rds of both houses voting on this and then 3/4ths of the states ratifying this.

Did I completely miss something VERY important?

In 2020, Virginia became the 38th state to ratify it.

But, the question is that it was way later than the deadline set forth in the original bill. The legal question is that deadline was in the preamble, not the main body, so does it technically apply?

The National Archivist has said based in their view, it was too late and have not advanced it to officially be an amendment.

Biden's statement does nothing to change that.

Not only that but several states have rescinded their approval by this point and the freaking Amendment was first voted on by Congress in 1972?

Sorry, but it’s not the 28th Amendment. It can’t be a 50+ year process. It had a 7 year time limit for approval, not 50+

And I don’t necessarily have anything against the ERA, but saying this is now the 28th is about as dumb as saying “pack the SCOTUS with like 15 judges”.

What's the purpose of Biden and Harris publicly stating such a thing? What would there be to gain from doing so?

Oh I get you, but the 27th amendment wasn't ratified for over 200 years...

Yeah, still a dumb statement. Him declaring it is just funny. Lot of Office memes going around now.

Only thing I can think is maybe someone makes a legal case? But, why wait nearly 4 years and then suddenly declare it now?

I have come to think that they said that publicly because the House voted to keep trans people out of girls/women sports. That would also tie into towns thought that it could be for a legal case. Remember, 206 Dems want biological males to compete against females. This might be the hill they've chosen to die on 🤷‍♀️
