Someone else called it - a big driver of the housing bubble in 2008 was making it easier/more affordable for people to own homes who shouldn't.
Now I realize a home is the biggest, and majority, savings asset most people have. Home ownership is an admirable goal. But NOWHERE does artificially inflating someone's credit end with a good result (think student loans).
I wonder how effective Repubs can deliver this message. Basically they're saying everyone with good credit and a down payment should pay PMI for those who don't.

So you're one of those guys who earns an 'A' in class and is unwilling to share that grade with the dude who got a 'D', so overall everyone is around C+.

I'm an extremely selfish person, yes.

At this point it's hard for me to believe shit like this isn't part of a controlled demolition of America.
Yes, I know.
posted by justincredibleYeah, if my wife and I decide to move we're going to be punished by paying a higher rate because we have great credit? On what planet does it make sense to punish those who are financially responsible to reward those that are less so?
You do realize that the only reason you have good credit is because the whole system is racist? Shame on you for complaining about it.

Indeed. Where can I sign up for my struggle session?

Maybe it's time to focus more on teaching high school kids financial management. Maybe that's more important than teaching them critical race theory....

Responsible citizens are harder to bribe. No way they’d teach them something supremely useful like that.

This is what "muh equity!" looks like.
So Stacey Plaskett, a delegate to Congress from the Virgin Islands, has threatened a reporter with jail time. Five years, to exact. She is making the claim that Matt Taibbi (central to the Twitter Files releases) perjured himself.
Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat, is the delegate from the Virgin Islands to the U.S. Congress. Last month, when independent writers Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger testified before the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, she described them as "so-called journalists" and sought to undermine their testimony about government pressure to restrict speech on Twitter.
It is true that Taibbi made some errors: In one of his tweets about the web of organizations engaged in identifying so-called misinformation on Twitter, he confused CISA, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency—an organ of the federal government—with CIS, the Center for Internet Security—a nonprofit. Hasan has never sufficiently explained why this mistake would render the Twitter Files obsolete; in fact, both organizations participated in the Election Integrity Partnership, a Stanford University project that sought to monitor the election-related discourse on social media. Taibbi pointed out this fact in a tweet admitting to the mistake.
So, he mistakenly mixed up CIS and CISA, admitted to it when it was pointed out and then corrected the mistake.

What's it called when a political party captures the press? I can't seem to remember the term. Dear me, my stupid memory can be so bothersome! Can somebody help me out, here? :)

I can see that you're just dying to throw the racist word at me. I don't give a shit lol!
But just for shits and giggles, let me throw some education your way.
The "muh" was an *English* slang term used by (omg white) people clear back in the 1700's, which is as far back as historians have traced it in writing, but most certainly used in common language before then.
Hopefully, in the future, you will at least make some sort of attempt at making sure you're correct before you casually try to throw the term racist around. You rely on that too much. And because you rely on that too much, you show yourself to be truly ignorant of a lot of things.
***** DO BETTER *****
I always through muh was more hillbilly than anything else. You know, like "Ah drove muh truck through Uh-hi-uh tuh-day." ("I drove my truck through Ohio today" for civilized people.

It is also that, but wasn't phonetically used in such a way until long after the 13 colonies were established. More recently it was a regional slang for motherfucker and then in the past few decades picked up and used by the hiphop music industry.
I didn't even know all of this until about a year or so ago, when a 10 year old cousin did a paper on it and explained it all to me. She wants to be a teacher and so gave me a pretend class.
The fact is, anybody can do a quick google search for verification. It might hinder the urge to call somebody racist, but probably not; the temptation is just too strong for some people.
