I saw an interview with him today where he basically said the prosecutor Barr appointed to look into the origins of the Russia investigation would sully his reputation if he took part in it. Given Blumenthal's history the more I hear from this guy the more I find him particularly loathsome.

That should be for Congress to decide, except the Dems and their media are blowing up unsubstantiated stories for political purposes, which ultimately is destroying faith in our institutions.
Otherwise, sure, a partisan hack could make up a claim to have heard something purely to cause political damage. And I wonder how this compares in seriousness to Obama telling Putin "I'll have more flexibility after the election". But he's POTUS - he has the authority to not only negotiate in such manner, but actually make the deal.
