Your boy would lose BADLY.

Sorry LeBron couldn't fall into Shaqs lap coming into the league

Look, I'm a fan of the NBA, I love watching all these great players in the new golden age of the league, so I can enjoy great performances. Obviously you can't, as you only care what kobe does.

To each their own.

With that said, I'm not worried about getting into a LeBron-Kobe pissing match. They're both great players and LeBron will get his ring this year :D

IMO Kobe is the better basketball player but lebron is the better Athlete so when the two teams play they cancel each other out IMO. The Lakers help Kobe a lot more than people think. That team is loaded.

I'm about to piss on your parade.

A player that averages 27/7/7 in a season is the BEST all around basketball player.

Kobe is a better midrange shooter.

Both have equal 3 point games and LeBron is better getting into the lane.

Both are great defenders, but LeBron is a freakish athlete, and imo, has solidified himself as a top 5 defender in the league.

I think a player that averages 32/6/5 leads the league in scoring and is first team All Defense in the same year (back to back) is the BEST all around basketball player.

No offense to Lebron because he is a great player, but he is not a top 5 defender imo. Very good help defender, but not a great on ball defender by any means. He has some nice blocks but there are many better on ball defenders in the league than Lebron.

LOL, same people that said LeBron couldn't play defense won't admit that he's top 5 now...just shows me the quality of NBA fan that I'm arguing with. LTrain, we might as well sit back and watch our Cavs, talk about them and stay away from here. When you argue with idiots eventually people can't tell the difference.

LeBron is the best athlete in the league, he is also now the best player. Has been for a couple of years now. It's not a slam on Kobe, it's just the truth.

Lebron is a top 5 defender in the league? Common now. He gets a lot of off ball blocks and steals sure, but as an on ball defender hes no top 5.

And SQ lol we're all idiots because we dont share the same OPINION as you? What makes your Opinion right, and ours wrong? LBJ is the best player in the NBA yes....But defense is not his calling card. "Not a slam on LBJ, just the truth"

No, it's not because you don't share my opinion. It's because you can't admit fact. You know how many years we sat back and listened to them call Bruce Bowen the best defender in the league? Hilarious. So many people bought into it--meanwhile Kobe was the best defender in the league. But you can watch the tapes of Bowen from back then and you'd say exactly what you're saying about LeBron right now. I've seen more than enough of Bowen and RIGHT NOW LeBron is every bit the on ball defender that Bowen was. Does he get beat? Yeah, he does. So does every player in the league--especially if they're playing a Kobe, Wade, Melo, etc. But he shuts people down as well--and LeBron is SO athletic that he is the best off the ball defender in the league. That hurts him on the ball sometimes because he's roaming, but you can't name me 5 guys in the league who are better defenders right now. There is Howard, Kobe and then who????

It's just another example of what I'm watching on TV right now. Skip Bayless. They're talking about LeBron playing football, and I'm not going to say he'd be a Pro Bowler by any means--who knows that? But Bayless uses the argument that he could play because he can beat up on guys that are smaller than him in the NBA. Who in the NFL is bigger than him in the back 7 at 6'8 270? LOL, there are just people that refuse to say anything good about him. I understand, but it is what it is.

KG, Ron Artest and Shane Battier all play better on ball defense IMO.

James is in the next tier down with Rondo, CP3, and Wade IMO. Even though I really dislike LBJ, that is honestly where I feel he is at this point. And if you leave your man to "roam" and go for steals and blocks....wouldnt that mean you're leaving your man thus playing bad defense?

Um, no because defense isn't played one on one, especially with the Cavs. It's team defense, and LeBron roaming sometimes is a big reason they're such a great defensive team.

And if you ask me, based on the names you gave me you have your "tiers" backwards. Battier is Bowen--overrated in every way, not terrible but it's all he does well so he stands out. KG is not who he used to be, period. And based on what you say about LeBron I don't know how you can put Artest above him. Artest is a good defender because he hustles and plays well off the ball. Good defensive awareness. But on the ball, he isn't one of the best in the league. Like I said, IMO the two groups of players you gave me are backwards--I'd take Wade, Rondo and CP3 over all of the other 3. I'll even add Wade in there and put him in with Kobe and Howard for the top 5 argument.

Oh and by the way, Kobe's 100 forty point games--amazing. No need to have a pissing match between Kobe and LeBron over that. The first post of this thread is stupid and shows me something big about Kobe fans but whatever. It's a GREAT accomplishment and his own fans can't even just credit him with that.

Since it's being talked about; a top 5 would be hard for me to make. I think I'd have to go with Duncan, KG, Kobe, Howard, and Artest. Ask me tomorrow and it may change. LBJ and Wade are close, but their time will come when they're on top. They inching near their defensive peaks. All of them are great defenders in the league.

Ew dude, Duncan? Really?

And I understand why people want to put KG in there, but it ain't a lifetime achievement. He isn't in this discussion RIGHT NOW IMO. He is not the KG of old, still a great player but not in that top tier on either side of the ball anymore.

Duncan? Yes, really. I still think he's the best low post on the ball defender. Even better than Howard. I just think Howard is a better low post help defender than he is a 1-1 defender down low. Still very good at both.

As for KG, he is the best communicator in the game on that end of the floor. And he still holds his own and more against the elite players. Not only does he set himself up for great success, he helps him team on that end more than anybody else in the league.
