He also nabbed West Virginia football coach Bill Stewart, formerly of New Martinsville and Magnolia High School. I don't what Stewart did to incur the wrath of Fairwood King!!

I just read in the Herald Star that Harding Middle School is going to be expanded by two classrooms because of overcrowding. I assume this means that Big Red will remain Div. III when the new numbers come out next year. That's good news.

Where are all of these students coming from? Open enrollment? The Herald Star article was vague about that point.

Alot of local districts are in trouble. I guess Harrison Central just closed two schools with Lakeland (Freeport) being one and not sure of the other.

I just heard that Harding sports was just voted out of the Bmac's . I guess the deciding vote was Central catholic and they voted no. I wonder what they are going to do ? the schedules are made out already.

Harding can find much better competition outside of the BMAC.

Maybe so, but with schedules already set who are they going to get to play? Girls and Boy's sports, going to be hard to find teams . I guess a lot of out of town games are going to happen. such a shame!

Harding is playing Massillon this year under the lights at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium...that is the kind of games we need, and that will bring in kids who want to play on a higher level than the area teams do.

I look at this as a blessing in disguise.

So you are admitting the "Open Enrollment" offers!

I don't understand why you would want someone to admit something that can be proven or dissproven as fact. Seems like childs play to me.

The voting out of the BMAC may have an impact of the "Open Enrollment " classes in the future.

That is what Open Enrollment is!!! It was instituted to set up competition between the districts, whether it be academic or athletic. So if Big Red has an advantage in a certain area of athletics, then we should use that to attract students.

And I think it will have an impact all right, but not in the way the complaining schools would like. It will just set Harding apart and put it more on a pedistol than it already is. If you want to play sports, who would you rather play...the subpar teams around here, or elite teams from out of the area??

What these schools don't get it that since they can't compete with the facilities that Steubenville has to offer, the only way they can compete is to keep us on their level. If you can play the same teams by going to Indian Creek as you do Harding, then there isn't much incentive to leave. But if you can play better competition, in better stadiums, with better coaching, then you will seriously consider it. Same way with the high school. The Buckeye 8 should be begging Big Red to join, so that it takes the mystic off of Big Red, but instead it just makes Big Red more attractive by having us go out and schedule teams like Massillon, Ursuline, McKeesport, Inkster, etc... Would you rather go to Morristown to play Union Local, or Paul Brown Tiger Stadium to take on the Tigers???

Just curious. Why do believe the BMAC voted you out?
Because everyone is "subpar"?
They are afraid of you?

Maybe they want to make it tougher to scout there players?

If someone is scouting "their" players (like the own them or something), then all they have to do is buy a ticket.

More than likely kids and their parents will see Big Red on TV in big time games and want to be a part of it.

You look at some of the players that come to big red by way of transfer. Many I know because I've got it from the horses mouth...the PARENTS! Have nothing to do with athletics but PERSONAL reasons and CONFLICTS with the school administrators. Others on this site think that open enrollment is the main reason we win. We were winning well before open enrollment. And here's a shocker, we will be winning long after as well. And that means after the Troubadour has retired.

I think some Big Red fans are full of sh*t if you think that you will continue winning after he decides to retire because the program will start going downhill and you will be just another high school that talks about their past.I don't like some of the arrogant Big Red fans and think that some of them need to get a life and stop thinking that because they attended school for a couple of years that they are gods gift to football but I will say that when it comes to coaching and knowledge of the game Reno ranks in the top 5 or 10 in the state so I don't see the wins coming as much after he retires.
