So they sent me a free trial copy of the software to try out and I have spent all day trying to get the shit to work. It has permissions on all my firewalls and the damn thing still won't connect. Then the help says to locate the "pervasive sql workgroup engine in your start folder" yeah, can't find that and anything I find like that doesn't have what I am looking for.
Can someone help me get this thing running? I tried calling them but they said you have to buy the software to get help. I'm sick of quickbooks and I want to try out some different softwares.

I don't think the permissions it needs are firewall permissions. I'm guessing there is some sort of ODBC connection that needs fixed. Sounds to me like it isn't pointing to a local database like it should.
I would get more in depth but I charge by the hour.

My guess with it bring trial software, it may not allow you to create an actual database to use, more or less, its probably just giving you and interface to look at and features to try out using dummy data.

If I could see the software first hand, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to figure out but I'm flying blind here. I would google some things on Peachtree using Pervasive ODBC. I'm sure there will be something out there to help you out.

No it's full software. It just doesn't include any help and you can't create certain forms. I'm about to say fuck it and look around for some other software.Keebler wrote: My guess with it bring trial software, it may not allow you to create an actual database to use, more or less, its probably just giving you and interface to look at and features to try out using dummy data.

I've worked with a lot of different account systems. The data stored in all of them is very unique. Never did a Peachtree integration but I did a Quickbooks one. It was absolutely horrible.
Depending on what you are doing LJ, I'm sure I could find a better system for you to try out.

Cashflow in on a consistent basis with no services provided and no manufacturing costs. Every oil lease I have has just been set up under a different "customer" on quickbooks and I have to deposit it every time it's paid for. So in other words the oil buyer pays when they drain the tanks, which is at different times every month. The buyers are also the operators, so I only get net income back with 0 cogs.Keebler wrote: I've worked with a lot of different account systems. The data stored in all of them is very unique. I happen to be a Peachtree lover and in switching one of my friends accounting systems for them I downloaded the trial version to their computer and had the same problems.....They took my call however and I was on the phone with them for an hour trying to figure out why it wouldn't startup...I, like you, was very frustrated and I like Peachtree but they really need to get that problem fixed 'cause it makes them look bad....
Did you try all the fixes from their website? It definately has to do with firewall and that Pervasive database...

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I think you will find that Peachtree is rather easy to understand and the reporting and job-costing are stellar if you have some accounting skills.
