Per the NY Post (take it for what its worth):

http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/hardball/up_reyes_matthews_jr_and_gaudin_XQVS8BgqnnSlFL9MfPQnsJ

"Two major league officials told me the Mets are shopping Gary Matthews Jr., and the Reds could be a possibility."

Per Metsblog.com:

http://www.metsblog.com/2010/03/24/buzz-mets-are-shopping-gary-matthews-jr/

"…in the off season, there was lots of buzz connecting the Mets to the Reds in talks about Bronson Arroyo, Aaron Harang and Brandon Phillips, among others… i left the winter believing talks were real, but that the Reds were only interested in trading a pitcher, while paying most of his way, in return for a top prospect… i have no idea how a player like matthews fits in to that today… but, the Mets clearly still need some sort of reliable starting pitcher to be added to this rotation, and so if there is a way to still get arroyo or harang, i hope Omar Minaya is working on it…"

I hope they don't trade Arroyo for Matthews. Matthews has been garbage for the past few years. The OF is already crowded as it is, I doubt they bring him in unless they deal a guy like Balentien

I think the Reds should go after him. They need someone to fill the "I HATE DINGLEBAKER!!!" role that Patterson and Tavaras so excellently handled in recent times.

I really don't see this happening. It provides absolutely no benefit to the Reds for this year or the future.

Maybe the Reds could pickup Vince Coleman. Devon White maybe.

doubt it happens. Baker has failed with two players he wnated to bring in...his credibility has to be shot with the front office.

No way, the scouts aren't high on this guy, cause he's under 6 feet. (ughhh, I know, I know)

I have heard they signed this man to take the place of Volquez until he comes back.
