I'm looking forward to hearing this "Jam Nantz" guy. Although that's a bit cliche for a basketball announcer. ;)

Duke will almost always get the Final Four crew when a top seed, but I hate it. I envy Kentucky's announcing crew in the East.

Here's an interesting question: Who takes over for Lundquist and the legend, Dick Enberg, when they retire? (We all know, Raftery isn't going anywhere. He hasn't changed since he was in the movie Above the Rim in 1994.

I think next in line should be the crew of Kevin Harlan and Mike Gminski.

^^^Good call on Harlan and Gminski. I enjoy listening to Eagle and Spanarkel as well. And get Bob Wenzel in there. He's great.

Gus Johnson has been dying for a game that's anywhere NEAR close.

Could this be his chance????

I think his Xavier, Kansas State game will be the one.

And anyone who doesnt like Raftery needs to GTFO. At the very least, STFU!

Raftery, behind the late New Yorker, Al McGuire, is the greatest colorman in the history of the sport.

Lundquist, well, I will always have a special place for him in my sports memory for his call of "The Shot." But I don't particularly care for him.

And as everyone knows, I believe Enberg, though not where he once was, to be the best Tournament play-by-play announcer ever.

Raftrey is my favorite, I'm slowly learning that unless a game is close, and within the last 2-5 minutes...Gus Johnson is....kind of plain.

He should just be like a closing pitcher. Come in when the game is tight, shut it down, and go home and rest.

^^Haha.

I've noticed that, too, actually. Although I do still think he's one of the best out there right now.

No one will ever top McGuire, though.

A little kiss! ONIONS!

C'mon, Bill Raftery is awesome. And Upper, you described Gus Johnson to a T. It's some kind of cosmic punishment that he hasn't been assigned to a close game yet during this tournament. I think he would've gone Defcon 5 were he doing the Kansas-UNI game. Seriously.

Johnson's good, but I think Kevin Harlan, as he did with the Northern Iowa game, can call a game down the stretch like few others. At least in terms of the announcers we have available today.

I know that I am in the vast minority, but I have always found this comment by Raftery both annoying and superfluous... if someone does not know enough about the game to recognize on their own what type of defense is being played, being told is probably not going to help a great deal.

Just as with Dick Vitale, I do not need a lot of idioms and excitement from my color analyst... I want basketball to be a game of emotion, but from the players, coaches, and fans - not my broadcasters... at least not on every other possession.
