Great show on history channel. It is their highest rated show on this network.

I liked how they started to talk about their profit margin (that may have been a rerun) but I noticed last night they showed a few people buying or interested in buying items.


Read where they are expanding the business and the show, of course, has helped the extremely.

Told my dad about the show and of course he said he "wouldnt watch that crap" but i did tell him about how it can be very educational which I believe it is on some items.

Good good show.

Agree on every point.

Also, I get enjoyment out of stupidity of some of the people who come in.

If appraisal value is 2,000-4,000 why the hell would you ask for $3,000? Are they really that stupid.

I also like it when people come in with "family heirlooms" that are fake. Hilarious stuff.

Retail's not a science it's just common sense. People often forget who they are working with in such situations.

I'm fascinated with how they appraise merchandise; it takes a lot of knowledge and experience to be a successful pawnbroker. Definitely an interesting career.

Love this show.

I seem to laugh almost every episode at Chumlee....His best quote of the show's history for me was when he was explaining how they get paid, he said they get paid "salary and commissionly"...It's when he was saving up to buy a Harley that they just bought from someone...

My fav part is when they bring in the experts. They always like to give as much info as they can...really cool.

Love it when someone gets had...bring in something they thought was alot of money only to see it was fake!

Love this show! Chumlee is the human pinata/whipping boy. Old man is funny as Hell too.

I have a friend that just came back from Vegas last week. She went by the store and said the actual store and what you see on TV are much different. She said the store did have some cool stuff, but her overall impression of the location itself was not good. Its was way smaller than you would think and not exactly kept spotless.

I have a friend that has been there and apparently Chum is extremely smart but has spent so much of his life revolving around motorcycles that is really the only thing he has an extensive knowledge about. Apparently it seems a lot of his lines are scripted.

They had all the other impressions that your friend had.

I love the show. It's kind of Antiques Roadshow that no one makes fun of you for watching.

Some of the stuff people bring in is amazing. Did you see the one with the silver spoon made by Paul Revere? That was pretty cool.

Gotta love the guy who brought in an old spoon with Revere on the back and told them it was made the "the" Paul Revere......he looked absolutely shocked to learn that Revere was a company that made silverware...not Paul Revere who warned about the British. Best one ever....lol

^^^ Are you sure you watched the same episode I did? The one I watched the spoon was indeed made by either Paul Revere or his father, who both made silverware.

It was made by the Paul Revere, the expert confirmed it by the mark on the back. Auction value wwas $18,000. They gave him $9,500.

Yeah..no shit. I saw that paul revere one too. I think maybe that person just saw th promo because in the promo the expert says. "you know there was more than one paul revere" and they showed the seller and he looked shocked.

the one with the paul revere the xpert said it was real.

When I read the article before this season they said how big it is..and it really is a small place but they are expanding it. Cannot rmember how much more business the do now from the show but it is H U G E increase.

Last night they had a trivia on what item had been there the longest....it was like 15 years I think.

I can see it not being that clean of a palce.

A co-worker of mine's cousin is supposed to be on one of the upcoming shows. He is actually friends with one of the producers and is standing in for someone that brought something in but did not want to be on camera. I had no idea that they did this.

On a recent show a BIG DUDE appeared at the counter. He was a security officer that they must have stationed at the front door. He escorted an upset customer out. Ive only seen him once. He was wearing the same black shirts the other workers wear.

I did see once they summoned the security guy and then ive seen him in the background occassionaly by the door. Prolly is a needed employee in a business like that

All pawn shops have security guys. I guess when one of my cousins got of the army in the mid-90's this was a typical job placement for them.
