This video is so cool! So many different types of travel (foot, horse, horse and buggy, automobile, bicycle, Trolley and street cars) and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO traffic rules.
This film was "lost" for many years. It was the first 35mm film ever. It was taken by camera mounted on the front of a cable car. The amount of automobiles is staggering for 1906, just 4 days before the earthquake! The clock tower at the end of Market Street at the Embarcadero wharf is still there.
(I'm also wondering ... how many "street cleaning" people were employed to pick up after the horses? Talk about going green!)

Great historical film worth watching.

Did they have to put "porn music" in the background?? I opened it up in my office at work and the cleaning lady looked at me like I was watching "Deep Throat" or something.

Although the traffic was heavy, you also have to keep in mind those cars were likely only traveling 15-20 mph at best.

^ I don't even think 15 - 20 MPH, heck the cable car the camera is mounted on a guy on a bicycle passes them on the right early on.
