what is the rule on intentional fouls? if you grab a guy by the waist from behind like that is it supposed to be intentional or just a foul?

literally KSU is going to lose this game... they have to be mentally drained! And they are in severe foul trouble!

LMAO you better do a better job of fouling than that. Why wouldn't you just wrap him up completely? Leave no doubt.
Because it would be called an intentional foul.

He put both arms around him. That's a foul, and it should have been called. The other K-State player shouldn't have fouled when the guy was shooting, but the first foul not being called is ridiculous.

that does happen all the time, though

in this case it's going to get a lot of critcism because it's the end of an NCAA Tournament game

but they often miss the first attempt at a hold foul and make sure it's a little rougher

They won't call you for an intentional foul in that situation unless you absolutely kill somebody because they understand it's a strategy thing.

I agree

They could of called the foul but it wasn't near as obvious as the announcer was trying to make it sound.

Plus, refs know you may foul in that situation. So if you clearly wrap him up, the crowd may get upset, but the refs will just call it a normal foul.

That's why you don't foul--you play the game like a man and D up.

I mean he grabbed his jersey, it just couldn't be seen from the trail official.

LOL, I mean the percentages say he isn't going to make it. The percentage drop of drastically if you get a hand up and contest with good defense. If he makes it he ties, he can't win the game--stupid to foul. Take your chances with the percentages.
