Obviously no one from the New Yorker has a sense of humor. Does anyone from New York City really have a claim to talk about basketball either?

The writer probably went to Fordham.

That was the gayest thing (sorry Hilary Duff) I've ever read. Truly worthless.

New Yoker staff, you suck.

Good call!

Signed, New Yorkers Kareem Abdul Jabar, Julius Erving, Chris Mullin, Bob Cousy, Elton Brand, Ron Artest, Stephon Marbury, Bernard King ... ummm, who else? (I was tempted to put Michael Jordan, who was born in Brooklyn, but I don't consider him a New Yorker)

Skip to 2 My Lou (Rafer Alston), Earl "The Goat" Manigault, Herman "Helicopter" Knowings, Nate "Tiny" Archibald, Albert King, James "Fly" Williams, Ed "Booger" Smith, Soul in the Houl, the New York Knicks, Louie Carnesseca, Lloyd "Swe' Pea" Daniels, World B. Free, Adrian "Whole Lotta Game" Walton (who once dropped 41 on Vince Carter in a street game), Frank McGuire, Al McGuire, Pat Riley, Rick Pitino, Billy Cunningham, Art Heyman ...

Still, it was the worst article ever written on anything.

Apparently I gave the people who came on here too much credit. If you can't see the irony in this and find the humor, then I guess I overestimated the education and intelligence level of this board. If you can't find the humor in this, I feel sorry for you.

i understood it (as I do with most New Yorker drivel) but (like most New Yorker drivel) it's not funny. I get the appeal of the New Yorker. It's not for me though.

FYI this is the kind of remark that solidifies my presumption that all New Yorker readers are assholes.

I'm actually not a New Yorker reader, I saw this posted somewhere else and thought it was funny and that some here mind find it enjoyable as well. Clearly I was wrong. I'm guessing that if you went and saw Shakespeare somewhere then you would understand the humor, but still not find it funny right?

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest -
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men -
Come I to speak in Caesar's funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.

Friends, Kansans, bracketologists, lend me your ears;
I come to bury the Jayhawks, not to praise them;
The picks that men make live after them,
The good is oft interred with their bones,
So let it be with Kansas…The noble Dickie V.
Hath told you Kansas was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Kansas answered it…
Here, under leave of Dickie V. and the rest,
(For Dickie V. is an honorable man;
So are they all; all honorable men)
Come I to speak at Kansas’s funeral…
They were my pick, unprofitable and disloyal to me:
But Dickie V. says Kansas was ambitious;
And Dickie V. is an honorable man….
He hath brought many winners home to ESPN,
Whose brackets did his coffers fill:
Did this in Kansas seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Kansas hath swept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Dickie V. says Kansas was ambitious;
And Dickie V. is an honorable man.

I find the use of Find/Replace to be lazy, unoriginal and not funny. Of course this is just my opinion. I'd never call someone an idiot for liking it.

yes, i have a high school degree. I've read Shakespear. Like JC said, it's lazy and not funny. If they'd have ripped off Faust, or Poe it could have had more potential. Hell even doing more than replace Brutus with Dickie V. and Rome with Kansas would have made me chuckle.

Here's my first go at it:

Mephistopheles (aka New Yorker authur):
Kansas' haplessness in March I so deplore,
Not even I would pick the sorry Jayhawks more.

Sherron Collins:
Now I have studied bracketology,
African American Studies,
and unfortunately, theology,
wearily sweating, yet I failed at my duties,
poor fool, no champion like I was before;
I am called diaper dandy, even PTP'er,
and for these last 4 years have led
my happless teamates by the nose--up, down,
crosswise and crooked. Now I see
that we win nothing finally.
