I'd like to start an NCC thread over here.
Obviously, you start NCC title talk with Ontario and go to Wynford and then from there, it's probably up in the air.
This year, Bucyrus returns a strong group of seniors who have lots of experience. Whether than translates to NCC wins this year or not remains to be seen.
Col. Crawford will likely be in the mix again, even though they lost quite a bit. While their JV team was weak last season (if my memory is correct), they have a good coach.
Riverdale has a couple starters back from a decent team last season, so they will likely create some problems for teams.
I'll start by saying Bucyrus had a scrimmage against River Valley on Saturday and did well, easily winning all 4 quarters. However, I have no clue if RV is any good this year.
They play in their Foundation Game against Cardington on the 20th, and have another scrimmage against Carey tonight.

Riverdale scrimmaging at Bluffton tonite...
Looked good in the first half of the scrimmage against McComb last Saturday.
Have to agree that Ontario and Wynford are the prohibitive favorites.
I see Bucyrus, Riverdale, Buckeye Central, and Col. Crawford in the next tier; probably Crestline and Lucas at the next step down...
However, many unknowns from those teams in the middle; that's why they play the games!
should be another good conference season.
By the way, can anybody answer how many of the hoops athletes at Wynford are still playing football?

At least 3 key ones: Brause, Eatmon and the guy who's a running back, I believe, name escapes me. Brown?killdeer wrote: Riverdale scrimmaging at Bluffton tonite...

I think there are like 7 varsity and JV level players in practice right now at Wynford. The Freshmen who play both are doing an hour of basketball after football if they don't play much on Saturday's right now.

Todays News Journal has an article about Lucas only having 10 players interested. May not have a JV team.
The conferance is wide open again. No clear power teams.

That is just plain sad. How can a school the size of Lucas not be able to find enough guys for a JV basketball team?Steelblue wrote: Todays News Journal has an article about Lucas only having 10 players interested. May not have a JV team.

Last night, Bucyrus scrimmaged both Carey and Benjamin Logan at Carey. Bucyrus won all the quarters except two against these schools despite not having two of their starters.

Both chatlain boys rall and McNaulty all play basketball aswell, so they hardly have anyone in practice.Writerbuckeye wrote:At least 3 key ones: Brause, Eatmon and the guy who's a running back, I believe, name escapes me. Brown?killdeer wrote: Riverdale scrimmaging at Bluffton tonite...

Bucyrus scrimmaged Tiffin Calvert and Margaretta tonight. They looked so, so in winning against Margaretta and losing to Calvert. Sloppy play and turnovers was the description.
Hopefully, they tighten things up before the season starts.

Riverdale hosts McComb for scrimmage tonite (I misspoke im my earlier post above, it was Mohawk last week. not McComb).
Falcon boys and girls looked well-prepared in the North Union foundation game last Friday.

11/28, 4-way scrimmage - Ontario, Bellevue, New Albany and Keystone. Each team played a 16 minute half against the other 3 teams. Ontario won all of their halves against the other 3 teams.

Ontario beat River Valley by 20 in the foundation game. RV only won 2 games last year though so i'm not sure you can read much out of that game.

Lucas was pretty competitive with Fremont St. Joe on Friday morning. Granted I only saw two quarters, but they have some kids who can flat out shoot the ball. Very undersized though.

Plymouth at BC tonight. Should this be a good game or will the Big Red just roll over them?

Since it's at BC, I bet it's a good game -- even with as good as Plymouth is supposed to be.
Other games I know of include Wynford and Upper, and Galion at Col. Crawford tonight, and Bucyrus opens tomorrow night against Galion. Wynford plays at (I believe) Mohawk on Saturday.

Riverdale easily handled Hardin Northern tonight. I'm not positive on the score but something around 87-42. Ryan Frey led all scoring with 31 pts...he's going to be tough to contain for a lot of teams this year.

Second home game in a weekend...Riverdale (non-conference) over backyard rivals Carey...really controlled the tempo of the whole game...won by 8...Carey looked "off" a step all night.

Listened to the Bucyrus-Galion game over the interwebs and Bucyrus had a chance to win that game but missed 12 free throws. Galion won by making something like 10 3 pointers to about 5 for Bucyrus. I'm sure Galion playing a game the night before also helped them immensely (this was Bucyrus' first game).
Bucyrus now travels to Marion Harding on Tuesday night for a game. Not sure why this is being played on Tuesday and wasn't just scheduled as the opening game on Friday...but that's how it goes.

Considering that writerbuckeye can make a full sentence and type it, one must assume his IQ is at least in the 80's (more than likely higher). That would mean you would have an IQ of 800 at the very least.beetlejuice wrote: Who are you callin childish you fool. i bet my IQ is ten times yours even if i was 12!
So my question for you oh smartest one ever, how did the universe start? If you could predict some good stocks for me too let me know.
