Graetz estimates that a VAT of 10 to 14 percent would raise enough money to exempt families earning less than $100,000 -- about 90 percent of households -- from the income tax and would lower rates for everyone else.

Great, let's have even more people who don't pay income tax. 10% paying for everyone else. The liberal wet dream. The ONLY way I would ever be in support of a VAT was if it completely replaced the income tax. Do away with our convoluted tax code and replace it with a 18% VAT, then I might support it, otherwise, this is getting out of hand.
