The source said the deal includes $3.25 million guaranteed, and with incentives would max out at $18.25 million.

Anderson would compete with current Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart for the starting job.
i dont think the Browns and Cardinals will play in 2010. so we wont get to see how he might do against them.

I could see him winning the job, and doing well for the Cards.

dont know how its broke down....but with the uncapped year the $$ doesnt matter if they frontload..which Imagine they did with more than half of it.

This has nothing to do with the thread, but Deadspin perhaps wrote the most ridiculous Derek Anderson thing ever a couple years back.

He'll show just enough -- and the coaches will be enamored of his "big arm" -- to the point that he'll take that franchise right down the toilet if he ends up being the starter.

Why coaches/gms haven't figured out that he is the most INCONSISTENT turnover machine out there, is somewhat baffling to me.

It was obvious even when he was having his so-called pro-bowl year. He finished that season on a definite downward slide, and never reversed it.

He has a lot better weapons to work with in AZ than the damn Browns did....lol

Not during his "pro bowl" season he didn't.

He had Edwards and Winslow, along with a rejuvenated Jamal Lewis at RB, and a pretty decent line.

Take a look at his last 8 games that season and get back to me.

inconsistant turnover machine - i hope he doesn't turn the ball over thats not his job. A turnover machine is a QB named Jake Delomme.
Derek Anderson will do just fine, in fact with a better offense all together he may have a pro bowl year- if he becomes the starter. Which i believe he will be.

You better watch what you wish for. Been there done that. This guy is not leading anyone anywhere. Matt Leinert will win this qb battle. Rumor has it Leinert is ready and focused. He learned from the best. My money is on Leinert.

It would be dumb not to start Leinart...he's their future and was decent in his starts his rookie season, he just got beat out by a hall of famer...

You have to earn your position, it's not given.

Edwards compared to Larry Fitz and Boldin? Just stop it! Now I'll give you Winslow at Tight End. But that is it.

Certainly this is Leinhart's team for the future. I wouldnt be surprised if DA started for AZ next year.

yeah Leinhart should have the edge since he has been with the team and knows them better. it doesnt automatically make him the starter, but should give him an edge for now over Anderson.

Whoever plays quarterback for the Cardinals won't be throwing the ball to Anquan Boldin. He's now in Baltimore.
Leinhart sucks. Anderson will start at some point this season.

Leinhart sucked when all he cared about was partying and enjoying all the glamor that comes with being a QB that was drafted #10 out of USC. He had the job and lost it to a hall of famer because he was young and stupid. Now he has been put in his place, lost his job and learned behind that hall of famer for 2 years. I think you will see better things from him this time around and no way is DA a better qb then Leinhart. If Matt can't beat out DA he might as well hang up his spikes.

Anderson will compete for the job but his long-term fate is as a backup. He is not a quality NFL starter.
