We're going to the Versailles Lady Classique for the first time and I just want some general information. I heard it's split in 3 divisions - how is this done and does anyone have any idea of when it starts? We have our school musical that day, (they feel the need to have a 1:30 p.m. performance along with the evening one...uuuggghhh) and I'm probably going to be missing a few kids. Thanks in advance!

So what exactly is forever...finishing at 5:00 p.m., later, earlier? So I take it they run 3-1600 meter races for each division? Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

cc609- We're hoping to come to the Bob Schul CC meet this year. Don't know if our AD has made the call. Thanks for the info.

I think the meet is fine. Its girls only so with them running 3 divisions, its basically having only 1 extra flight than it is at a regular meet when you have girls and boys. I'm thinking finals begin typically like other meets I've seen and that is around a noon start. Field events and prelims are started earlier of course. The competition is good. Using FAT would speed things up. The weather can be cold. Glad to see your team is coming. Increasing competition is a good thing. Wondering what division they would put your team in.

After looking at your enrollment figures, if they run the tournament the same as last year, I would suspect you will be in the big division with Versailles, Greenville, St. Marys etc...

I received the meet info Thursday night but they sent last year's division breakdown and said they'd get us the info next week. I think you're right, we'll probably be in the big division. We're going to be missing a few kids (our top 2 throwers and a couple of our distance crew) because of the school musical and state poultry judging but I hope we can be competitive.

New course that will be very sweet. Also lining up GPS so the meet will be ran very well.

Pretty good showing overall. Would have liked to have had Loramie and Minster at full strength to see all of their kids compete but I'm sure we will soon enough. Marion Local and Spencerville came down to the wire. Any other thoughts?

We were talking about how often we have our entire team for anything anymore, and the answer is generally never. Our primary hope every season is that we can have our key people in the lineup for League, District, Regional, and State Meets. Anything else is gravy. And we aren't even talking about injuries and the like. These absences are generally for competing activities. We have been fairly lucky at our school with a pretty good level of cooperation among all of the extra-curricular activities so that we have a majority of our kids present for the key competitions. The worst time for us is usually during Spring Break.

It would be nice if everyone could afford to get out of the 1950's and have all the electronic timing devices that are out there but with the very high cost of such equipment and the economic downturn to go along with it, some schools just can't do it. We are just now getting close to having those kind of devices for our home meets. I will agree that it does make the meet progress more efficiently and gets everyone home quicker but there is still something about that all day track meet that appeals to old goats like myself.

We weren't at full strength either due to our school's musical, state FFA competition, etc. 609 - a couple of the schools aren't D3 but it would be fun to have one big meet. At least you can compare your performances with the other divisions from the meet and see where you stand. My girls enjoyed themselves (at least those who dressed for the weather). The name of the town is "Versailles" and you never made a connection to France? Is it because they don't pronounce it the same?

I guess in the past (mentally) I've lumped Versailles in with the Germans in Minster? If I heard about the French history it slipped my mind.
