Man in the box thread got me thinking. I'am claustrophobic as hell and would never make it ever for a billion dollars. Well maybe for a billion. But crawl spaces, attics, elevators, even tight caves such as Mammoth or some at Old Mans give me the heebie jeebies.

I spent one summer working for a pipe rehabilitation company. We'd travel up to Boston every week and my days/nights would be spent inside 24" natural gas pipe resealing the joints. That broke me of my slight case of claustrophobia.

When my older brother would babysit me as a kid, he would lock me in a crawlspace while he did who knows what. I used to bawl and bawl and never got used to tight spaces.

I'm okay as long as I feel I have some sort of control. By that I mean if I mean I could get out of the tight spot as soon as I wanted. But just thinking about being trapped in a box/coffin/trunk freaks me the hell out.

Yes... Not too severe.
So far the toughest are planes. I just make sure to get the aisle seat now. So I can stand up and walk the aisle a little. One time I had the window and needed to get out... waiting for the plane to taxi and the row to clear out so I could stand... got a little hairy. 14 Hours to Hong Kong was tough also, but the elevated ceiling on the large plane helped a bunch.
I'm not looking forward to an MRI... I hear those are a little dicey.

aslong as i can move a little it doesnt bother me. now if you put me in a coffin and buried me alive, that is a different story and i would probably freak the fuck out.

no problem with claustrophobia...
have had the opportunity to do some amateur spelunking and loved it.
now acrophobia (isn't that the heights thing?), that is another story.

Not a problem here, but I have seen many people who are claustrophobic at work. I work in an xray department and we have to turn people away daily for MRI's because they can't handle being in a long narrow tube!

I had an MRI a few times and it's pretty freaky in there. Thinking of being buried alive makes me crazy too.....

Used to load planes w/ luggage, and the bottom of a DC-9 is no place for a claustrophobic. So, no, small spaces don't bother me.

not really...but I'm sure none of us like the idea of being in a small,closed in space for long period of time.

The bigger I've gotten, the more I've freaked out.
Anyone remember the scene in Kill Bill 2 when Uma Thurman is being buried alive? I was squirming the entire scene, one of the most uncomfortable moments ever for me watching a movie.
