Not trying to stir the pot, or be a dick or whatever. This is a legit question.

Is it time for Phil to tell Kobe to quit taking so many shots?

The reason I ask is because I'm starting to think they're going to have a really tough time making it out of the West as long as Kobe is playing as a volume scorer. Say what you want, but he has certainly become a volume scorer this year since the finger injury. But they have too many guys who can score for Kobe to be taking and missing so many shots IMO. He's clearly lost a step and he can't drive to the basket like he used to, which doesn't allow him to get to the line quite as much so it takes him 20-25 shots to get 20-25 point these days. It's hurting the Lakers IMO because like I said, they have too much talent to be wasting that many possessions. But it isn't going to change until Phil does something about it...

I guess the biggest point I'm trying to make is that this team doesn't need the old 30 PPG Kobe to win a title IMO. They just need him to be efficient.

I said it whatever game it was when Kobe had a triple double or near triple double, that that was the Kobe the Lakers need to win back to back rings.

I got blasted for it by everyone.

You got blasted because it's so far from the norm... it's ridiculous to assume that Kobe will show up consistently.

Kobe is not LeBron... his game is different.

What Kobe needs to do is take efficient shots and let his teammates get more involved.

I mean he has some great teammates and he needs to use his talent to make things easier for them IMO. I just don't know if he's got that in him, he's a scorer--it's what he does. I don't know if he's the kind of guy that can change his game like that.

All I know is that Kobe took 30 shots.

Gasol, Bynum, Fisher, Artest took 40.

That cannot be a good thing.

I agree with both SQ, and Wildcats on this one. Kobe needs to cut back on the shots, and try to be a facillitator, will help the team more in the long run.

I know that Kobe wants to take every shot when the game is on the line but Fisher was wide open with about eight feet of room between him and Nelson and didn't even get a look from him.

Saw a lot of bad shots go up by 24 in the last few minutes.

He was decent in the 4th. But he didn't score a point in the 2nd and 3rd. He was like 7 of 16 in the 4th or something--that's not terrible, but yeah, a few times he should have hit the open man instead. The shot to tie it is obvious, no one should shoot that but Kobe. But to win the game you gotta use your teammates during that last 5-6 minutes.

Right guys like Skyhook and NCF.

I honestly think Trueblue and I are the only 2 on here who can have any type of discussion without going all "I wanna suck Kobe off" on everyone.

I said it on the other thread, I had a feeling LA would go 0-3 on this trip.

Yesterday I said the exact same thing and you called me a trouble maker.

Give it time Square...eventually you'll think the same way I do on everything. :D

Kobe's incessantant ball hogging at the end of games has resulted in 2 of their last 3 losses.

This thread assumes that Phil is anything but a puppet at this point.

Recently a volume shooter? He's always been a volume shooter, second worse only to the great Allen Iverson.
