In Columbus, since the start of the Iraq War, there has been a group of protesters on the corner of High and North Broadway every Saturday holding up signs that mainly read "Stop the Bush War."

Well, they seem to have finally changes the signs to read "Stop Obama War."

Good for them. :)

At least they are showing that they are genuine in their complaints, and weren't just doing it because it was Bush in office.

Whether you agree with them or not, gotta give props to them for being consistent in their message.

While I admire their tenacity, I wonder after years of doing this, what's the point?

I'm sure that most of the people who have seen them are locals; and the locals probably see them once and then ignore them after that.

I would say that since we're here discussing it means their reach is a little greater than local. No?

I get your point, however.

I think the point is pretty clear. Plenty of Americans are asking the question..."what's the point of these endless wars"?

CBus...these people are right. When it comes to American expansionary wars, nation building, and occupations, then O=W. Nothing has changed.

A more accurate depiction would probably be Obama=McCain. Both don't care if it's 1 year, 10 years or 50 years. There is a large sector of the American population that love the economics of war. They love the growing Empire, and the hubris of American exceptionalism throughout the world.

It took the Vietnam protesters a long time to really have an impact that forced the government to withdraw.

Even still, it's more about principle I'd say.

And it only took 14 months. Not bad. ;)

Was this protest on the news by chance? Anywhere?

No, and it wasn't on the news when it was Bush, either.

It is just a few people, who have been out there every Saturday since i've been in Columbus, and before then, even, from what i've heard.

And, they may have changed the Obama sign much earlier than today, today was just the first time i had noticed it.

Just wanted to share.

Eers...I was around during the Nam protests. They had tens of thousands of people marching in Wahington. ROTC buildings were burned down. 6 college kids were gunned down at protest rallies.

College campi were over run by the student protesters. The real escalation occurred after Nixon won the election in '68 promising a diplomatic and quick end to the war...and then he pulled an Obama by bombing the living shit out of Cambodia out of the blue.

That is when the shit really hit the proverbial fan.

Today you have the Democratic party nodding their tacit approval to the same crap the last guy did...including the renewal of the Patriot Act.

They changed the signs a long time ago...I was in Columbus a few months ago and saw them and most of them had Obama's name on them.

I can respect these protests...at least they are consistent and have been standing for what they believe in since day one. Unlike MOST of the tea party people who waited until January 20, 2009 to get pissed and start protesting.

Mr Hammer meet Mr Nail. In many cases this is dead on. (NOT ALL) I cannot even begin to post the racial slurs being used in daily conversion about our President and the outright lies created such as he is a Muslim, his birth certificate etc.

Wow such insight here. I always suspected this about those that oppose Obama. What a bunch of racist knuckle draggers.

Actually, there has been stories locally on these folks. It was during the Bush Administration, of course.

That was some time ago.

You forgot to add that we also narrow-minded sexist Nazi homophobes bent on destroying the environment and allowing the elderly to die in the streets.

Nobody said anything about the elderly dying in the streets.

Everything else is debatable, though... :)
