This is not old news...many of us are aware that the Republicans and Tea Party advocates are much more interested in being anti-Obama than actually putting together their own plan to improve the country.

How will this sit with the independents who will ultimately decide the upcoming midterm elections?

This might be the very first time...but I agree with Sean Hannity

He has warned againist Republicans and Conservatives becoming too cocky about the midterms being a slam dunk for them.

This kind of stuff will make it more and more hard for them to make even moderate gains in Congress

Both parties use fear all the time. That is the way politics are played today. To try and pin it on just one party is ridiculous. The Republicans will probably win back the House and make moderate gains in the Senate, but it will not be because voters have fallen in love with them. It will be because they know the path that Obama/Reid/Pelosi are taking us on is a one way ticket to hell. I imagine most Americans know that both parties are corrupt to the core, and this election will be an incumbent bloodbath. It is sad that the few remaining moderate Democrats will be swept out of office in the coming tidal wave.

Yeah, it was disheartening to see Evan Bayh quit the Senate. He was one of the few good guys in my mind. Hopefully he considers running for President down the road.

I think if anything the Republicans will take the Senate(I personally don't think so) and will make modest gains in the House

The Rs will control neither the House or the Senate. Wishful thinking. Then, '12 will be a nightmare for Rs . This latest exposure will seriously hurt Rs with Independents and will cost the RNC funds. Rs simply aren't the sharpest pencils around as they'd like you to believe. Watergate, Iran/Contra, W., etc.

Maybe, I alone, well maybe not on this site, but I would love for the R's to take back both houses just to see what would happen. My guess, based off of the last two Presidents, is that people will drift back to the center and, shocking, get things done.

And if anyone thinks this story won't be completely forgotten in 2-3 weeks they're delusional. The only way this remotely hurts the GOP is if it breaks in October instead of March.

They have a plan- what they don't have is a majority.

And don't act like the Dems haven't done this stuff too. The whole '06 and '08 campaigns sounded something like this:

Moderator- "So what's you're solution to the Iraq war?"
Dem- "Bush sucks"

Moderator- "So how can we fix our struggling economy?"
Dem- "Bush sucks"

Moderator- "What's your plan to deal with Iran and North Korea?"
Dem- "Bush sucks"

Obama still talks about inheriting all his problems from Bush, and "the failed policies of the Bush administration".

Everyone knew that Bush sucked and it didn't need to be said. The people voted accordingly. However, here is why Rs will have a tough time finding votes to win back a Congress or the WH.

As if this is only an "R" issue. Apparently you've forgotten the Town Hall meetings where BHO-Reid-Pelosi and the DNC were openly showing contempt for the American people who had the audacity of challenging rampant spending, government bailout's, and the obscene drive to take over the health care industry by calling these people "Nazis."

The way the Dems have self-imploded in rapid fashion has doomed them for some time to come. Don't forget Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

Suffice to say both parties have major PR issues hence the Third Party Movement.

Very few Americans were bashing President Bush in the months following Sept. 11. The fact he was able to take a 90%+ approval rating and get it in to the mid 20% range should say something. Maybe he earned a lot of the "bashing" he received honestly?

Fair enough. There aren't many people in this country who view Obama as infallible. The same was true for GW Bush. It also holds true that neither of them are evil incarnate as some want to believe as well.

This shouldn't surprise anybody.
