Beating MSU at their place and then MSU beating Purdue at theirs will have that effect. Too high IMO, but it is what it is.

I like the Buckeyes, but this team being ranked 6th is an indication of the mediocrity of college basketball from the top to the bottom.

I don't think OSU is the 6th best team in the country, but it's hard to discount their ranking. The only teams below them that I think could make a case would be WVU and maybe Villanova.

OSU lost by 6 after dominating the first half. Hardly getting beat "pretty good", but I do agree with you that since WVU beat them straight up they could make a case.vball10set wrote: ^^^especially since WVU beat the Bucks pretty good--however,it is nice to see them up there.

Straight up...on THEIR home court. On a nuetral court...I'd take OSU.
I think OSU ranking is VERY deserving. They have some very good wins, very good wins on the road. I also believe, voters are taking into consideration that Turner missed an entire month, 6 games. OSU could legitimately be a top 5 game had they had Turner.
I honestly never thought OSU would be where they are today, espeically after ET injury. Matta has done an incredible job IMO. I expected a 15-20 ranked team, 3/4th in Big Ten. Bucks have had a great season thus far. Very unselfish group of guys who have been fun to watch. Its evident they truely care for eachother, and are all about winning. They have bought in....and thats not as easy as it looks.

This high ranking just shows how much Turner deserves POY imo.

No question. And I honestly don't think it will be close when its all said and done. Nor should it be.OneBuckeye wrote: This high ranking just shows how much Turner deserves POY imo.

I think OSU should be right where they are.
They would be higher if Turner doesn't get hurt and there wouldn't be any doubts about the B10 champion or ties.

I agree with CBF. In my opinion, Ohio State is 25-5 and would be ranked in the top 5 right now if Turner never got hurt. I’m pretty sure voters do look at that. So I think being ranked #6 is very deserving.

OSU is ranked sixth (seventh in the other poll) for the same reason Cincinnati's awesome team got dumped to a #2 seed after Kenyon Martin's injury even though they were at the top of the hill with him...the respect their star has earned. The team is 23-7 with a 3-3 record without Turner. It's good to see they aren't being punished for a blah performance without their main man.

as far as POY is concerned,it will be close,no matter what some of our more fanatical fans think--but ET deserves it,no question...he is simply the best, most complete basketball player in the country--but since there are still a lot of voters out there with their own agenda,an objective honor such as this makes me uneasy.

Agreed. Seens lots of media folks coming out lately in support of ET. And, going along with Rydawg's thread, OSU and Turner seem to becoming media darlings as of late, lots of praise for Matta, Turner, and the rest of the team.Laley23 wrote:im starting to think he wins it in a runaway.vball10set wrote: as far as POY is concerned,it will be close,no matter what some of our more fanatical fans think--but ET deserves it,no question...he is simply the best, most complete basketball player in the country--but since there are still a lot of voters out there with their own agenda,an objective honor such as this makes me uneasy.

Would anyone say 6 or 7 is too high if Ohio State's record today was 27-4 and in 1st place all alone in the Big Ten by two game? The voters understand if Turner had not gotten hurt that would be there record.
All of the attention Turner is getting is deserved. But Lauderdale has become a force in the paint and might be the most improved player since the beginning of the season. Also, Buford was in a major funk early in the year, but now can go for 20 any game Turner is being doubled. Lighty has become much more than Ohio State's best defender. If Diebler is on from the 3-point line, Ohio State is a tough out. As long as everyone stays out of foul trouble. However, when Turner and Lauderdale were in foul trouble the other players stepped up.
With that being said I think Wisconsin wins the Big Ten Tournament. No one wants to play them now that they are healthy
If KU beats KSU, Ohio State moves up another spot.

I hope you're right--it'd be a great honor for a great young man--and one helluva baller!!!Laley23 wrote:im starting to think he wins it in a runaway.vball10set wrote: as far as POY is concerned,it will be close,no matter what some of our more fanatical fans think--but ET deserves it,no question...he is simply the best, most complete basketball player in the country--but since there are still a lot of voters out there with their own agenda,an objective honor such as this makes me uneasy.

The words Lauderdale and force should never be mentioned in the same sentence, unless your specifically talking defense, and then that's still a stretch. The guy is good, but he's not THAT good.

I wouldn't be so quick to say OSU would have "for sure" won @ Wisconsin early in the Big Ten season w/ Turner.
That's a tough place to play, and Wisconsin has a good team.
