One of my favorite drives. Reminds of the good ol' days.

Funny you say that, I've noticed that when I am driving out in the middle of nowhere and when you get in range of the cities there is alot more hip hop and rap. I prefer the middle of nowhere music myself.DeyDurkie5 wrote: and the radio choices are 80% country

Exactly. Anything that gets you away from those ghetto folks is a plus.Bio-Hazzzzard wrote:Funny you say that, I've noticed that when I am driving out in the middle of nowhere and when you get in range of the cities there is alot more hip hop and rap. In 1998 when I made 6 trips to Wisconsin and back, I was taking 70 from Columbus to Indianapolis at first then I started taking 64 to Louisville then 65 north through Indianapolis.
More scenic and totally takes the Ohio State Highway Patrol out of the picture.

On the flip side, I-77 is the least boring interstate drive in the state - and the prettiest.

There are some stretches of highway in this country that need to go autobahn to make things more interesting. I-70 is one of them.

Nah, I'd say Routes 23, 52, and 33 in Southern Ohio are more boring. Really boring in many spots.

the most boring road in the world...
Penn Turnpike...
In Ohio it's probably 77 between 70 and the Ohio River

Agreed. When driving from DC to Columbus, I avoid the Penn Turnpike and take I 70, 68 to 79 back to 70 through Western MD, and Morgantown. A much better, and quite fun drive sometimes.LJ wrote: the most boring road in the world...

35 has to be one of the most boring. It's just straight and there is absolutely nothing.

"Slingshot4ever" has it right. Also, being a coach who has ridden buses down the 175-23 route to Columbus, I can attest to this as one of the most boring routes of all time. Of course, you have to understand that I have been this way literally hundreds of times over 42 years in the coaching business. There is a brief moment of excitement as you approach Waldo, but otherwise, it's very monotonous. Driving yourself doesn't help much either.

I think that I71 south from Columbus to Cincy is worse.

I hate this as well, but I have to agree that from Columbus to Cincy is pretty terrible. I'm in Virginia right now, coming back early next week, and I actually look forward to that drive, or at least most of it. Driving through West Virginia is nothing if not interesting.slingshot4ever wrote: I75/ Route 23 from Toledo to Columbus is pretty boring.

+2 on the route 23 from Columbus to Toledo. Awful drive. Once you go north and pass Upper Sandusky you are literally out in the middle of nowhere for a good hour. Half the time there is not even anyone else on the road. At least 71 South has the outlets and some cars and trucks on the road to look at.
Not to mention you have some more exits to stop and get gas and stuff.
Another road I would mention is Rt 32. 95% of the road is in God's country and is just a straight shot of divided hwy. It too could be the Autobahn if it were not so heavily patrolled.

I-70 in Ohio sucks. The whole thing.
I-71 from Columbus to Cincy is a close second.

Agree 100%. I made the drive from Newark to BG every other weekend for 2 years. As soon as you're leaving Delaware, you're like "oh shit, naptime" lol. I mean honestly, the most exciting thing along 23 is Marion, and if that's all we have, that sucks! You feel like you drive through one big cornfield for 2 hours, that you're never going to get there, and pass 1049588737636532 highway patrol cars on the way there. There were several weekends I decided not to drive home from BG, not because I didn't want to go home, but because I didn't want to endure that drive twice in one weekend lol.Swamp Fox wrote: "Slingshot4ever" has it right. I-70 sucks from Ohio to Colorado. Especially through Kansas. No wonder Dorathy (sp) hallucinated about OZ......
