I remember it well. My parents and my sister and I were all crowded around our television we knew nothing about hockey. But on that night we were the world's biggest hockey fans. It was an amazing event to live through. I wish I could explain it to my children.

I can still remember sitting down to watch that game...
the Olympic games in Lake Placid were made even more timely because it was LIVE to all of us in the eastern time zone....
however...the Soviet game was actually shown in tape delay.
the other notable fact forgotten, is that, after defeating the Soviets, the US was still far from the gold medal.

If I recall correctly, I can remember staying home from church to watch the US defeat Finland to secure the Gold.

By this time, these guys had become stars to all of us school kids
Eruzione, Callahan, Craig, Christian, Broten, Verchota, Silk.

Finland ? I thought they beat Sweden for the gold. But I could be wrong, it has been a long thirty years for me.
