Will it boil down to Salem vs. Struthers? Could be a good tournament final matchup, although the Quakers won handily at home earlier.

Go Quakers !!!

someone please tell me struthers #12 is playing d1 college ball somewhere...i am a girls coach with plenty of basketball under my belt, ive have plenty of experience in the nbc, federal league, ivc and others. ive seen and/or coached against the best of the best of the stark county area...and ive seen very few girls of her caliber...after seeing her just once id put her in a class with both hilary weaver and noelle yodar (both 4 year starters at hiland and both headed to d1 colleges), amber witt, former hoover standout and current akron zip star...i cant even express how impressed i was with her, she was a one man press breaker and did things with a ball and her left hand that you RARELY see girls do, good luck to both her and the struthers team...

Well, yeah thats part of it. I'm not taking anything away from Salem and Struthers or West Branch, just in years past there was a lot more good teams then this year. Back when Canfield and Howland and Rayen were all still there. It's just a down year.

Zombie,
Both Cards and yourself are right. Canfield is bigger now and must live up to it. However, the absence of Howland, Rayen, and Canfield does present a very watered down District. Same for the boys at Boardman. Pulling for the Cats on Saturday, but Salem plays very smart and Struthers will need to slow down their own pace a tad. They have been missing alot of easy shots because of rushing things. The Mattews girl has been fun to watch during her four years and will be sorelllllllly missed next year and beyond. Appears to have a very high basketball IQ. Unfortunately, from a big time college basketball prospective, she is trappped in a petite young ladies body (Division 3) and not a larger and more muscular one (Division 1). However, years down the road she will we thankful for such.

The Quakers will need to contain her; if so, I like our chances.

Go Quakers !!

Go Quakers! That girl from Struthers is good, but Salem still has the best player on the floor.

I agree with this district being watered down this year with no Canfield, Howland, Rayen, and Salem and WB are both down this year compared to some of their teams the last 6-7 years. But either way, it's nice to see the Lady Quakers make the championship.

Well, I was just informed that Salem lost today.

Good luck to Struthers moving forward.

Good season from the Lady Quakers, best of luck to Ms. Scullion at OSU...you'll certainly be missed in Salem! May never see another player like Amy Scullion in Salem.

Congrats to Struthers on a well deserved, hard fought victory. Good Luck against Geneva.

And I dont care how short she maybe, some D1 school needs to give Dana Matthews a look. God knows YSU can use any help they can find.

are you sure about that? i think she just proved otherwise last night...i need to try to make it back to see her soon, if they win this week ill def be in barberton to see the regional final...im a big fan of matthews because people and colleges seem to discount her, and she continues to play with HUGE heart...gotta love that!

Haha, whatever dude, good luck at Barberton. I don't even care that Salem lost, I just know they had the best player on the floor. You're the one trying to start an argument here, a pointless one at that. I hope to see Struthers do well at Barberton--I remember going to some big games there when I was in high school. We made a run to state. I hope Struthers does the same thing, they've been a doormat so long it's good to see both guys and girls having good seasons there.

Maybe the boys, but the girls have been no Doormat. Its great to see both programs succeed, over coming no one believing in them, its great to see a team rise over adversity. go cats
