Don't get me wrong, I take advantage of as many tax deductions and credits as I possibly can to pay the government less, but when it gets to the point you not only get every penny back that you paid into federal taxes, but you actually get much MUCH more...is when its wrong.

I do a lot of taxes for people and most of this is due to the child tax credit and earned income credit.
I have seen people pay in a total of 200 for the year and get back over 9000.

I know it's not going to get us out of debt because its almost all related to defense, interest and entitilments, but jesus christ man, how can the gov't justify paying people more $ than they're paying in taxes? I don't get it. It should be capped. This is coming from someone who is dating a broke grad student who made 12k last year and is gettin it all back plus 6 hundy

That's what happens when you substitute tax refunds for actually cutting taxes.

This is also what happens when you have a government more geared to redistributing wealth, rather than having a true tax "burden" on all citizens.

The federal government will never release the firm grip they have on our testicles.ccrunner609 wrote: If the people of the US would wake up and tell the IRS to go away and we use a national sales tax (consumption tax), how simple would our lives be?
