If anyone knows the answer to my question please answer this.
I interned over the summer last year and made around 8700 bucks. I e-filed my tax return today and did my fed and state at the same time. I paid around 230 bucks for my state taxes. When I e-filed it calculated my taxable state wages to be around 7000. Then it showed my return to be 230 bucks whick is what I payed in. Is 7000 bucks a small enough amount that it shouldn't be taxed or did the website I used make a mistake?

Do your parents claim you as a dependent? I am no tax expert, but the standard deduction plus the personal exemption would be more than the $7000 you made, which would let you get all state and federal taxes back.
