From November 1990 through June 1998, the Bulls never lost three games in a row with Jordan.

I'm not one to bash refs, but there were 2 calls in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th that were totally heinous, and IMO changed the game.

Jordan also never had to play with the likes of Dwight Howard, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and the numerous athletes that would absolutely STOMP any of the players that played in Jordan's era.

I would love to see how those 70 win Bulls teams would do in todays basketball. Obviously, the 90's was much weaker, but I still think those Bulls would be championship contenders.

That is extremely debatable. Early in his career absolutely, but not when he was winning titles. The overall level of quality in the NBA during the 90's wasn't what it was in the mid 80's and certainly not what it is today.Al Bundy wrote:Jordan never had to go against the likes of those guys. Ignorant. Keep thinking that. Today's NBA is harder, faster, stronger, across the board. I suppose the "good ole days" are fun to think about, and I'm not going to get into why(mostly because your stubborn ass will continue to believe your right), but its not even close. Today's NBA is way better than it was 10-15 years ago.

The Jordan era goes back much longer than 10-15 years ago. Just look at the 1992 Olympic team. Some of the guys you mentioned would have a very hard time making that team, and none of them would have started on it.sleeper wrote:LOLAl Bundy wrote:Jordan never had to go against the likes of those guys. I am a Cavs fan, and the Cavs teams of the late 80's early 90's were much better than the Cavs team that made the NBA finals a few years ago. The team that made it to the finals in 2007 just had an easier path to the finals.

You guys aren't serious about the talent being better now? I really hope not.

To think those Bulls teams of the 90's could not compete now is plain ignorance. Jordan played against some of the best players ever during those runs, mentioned above, and beat them all. Ewing, Barkley, Thomas, Olajuwan, O'Neal, Malone, Miller, Stockton. Players today may be better athletes than those guys, but those guys could flat out play.

I don't think that's in question here..rather, they (well, Jordan) wouldn't have won 7 titles if the talent level in the 90's was of equivalence to the talent level of today.KnightXC1 wrote: To think those Bulls teams of the 90's could not compete now is plain ignorance.

Why not? The Lakers won 4 Titles in the last 10 years and the Spurs won 3 Titles in the same 10 years. The Bulls teams of the 90's were just as talented as the Lakers and Spurs.SportsAndLady wrote:I don't think that's in question here..rather, they (well, Jordan) wouldn't have won 7 titles if the talent level in the 90's was of equivalence to the talent level of today.KnightXC1 wrote: To think those Bulls teams of the 90's could not compete now is plain ignorance.
Also the Eastern Conf is weaker the last 10 years top to bottom than when the Bulls won their Titles.

I wasn't taking a stance on the argument, just letting knightxc know what the argument actually pertains to.Skyhook79 wrote:Why not? Jordan won 6 titles (91,92,93,96,97,98). The league was much stronger during the first 3 than it was during the second 3. It is hard to say how they would have done this decade. Other than the Lakers in the early part of the decade, I don't think we have had exactly dominating teams in this decade.SportsAndLady wrote:I don't think that's in question here..rather, they (well, Jordan) wouldn't have won 7 titles if the talent level in the 90's was of equivalence to the talent level of today.KnightXC1 wrote: To think those Bulls teams of the 90's could not compete now is plain ignorance.

The Spurs and Lakers have been very good but the Lakers never faced a tough team in the finals and basically rolled the East all 3 times. And as much as I like the Spurs, the only time they were truly challenged in the finals was against the Pistons in 05.
With the East being as bad as it has been for basically the last 7-8 years, it's not hard to fathom Jordan going to the finals 6 times in the last decade. I know what the argument pertains to. People think Jordan wouldn't have done as well in the last decade as he did in the 90's to which I disagree. Someone mentioned players playing today to which I responded with players who played against those Bulls teams. Those Bulls teams could still easily compete today.

Take the words of Shaq on this argument of players today versus the 90's. Granted this quote is about him not needed to double team anyone unlike Dwight Howard, but he clearly talks about the players of the 90's being better. If he did not think so, why would he bring up those names instead of players today?
"When I was coming up and there was Pat Ewing and Hakeem (Olajuwon) and I never doubled anybody. You tell me who the real Superman is. Don't compare me to nobody. I'd rather not me mentioned, I'm offended."
"Don't let them double team me and make it a him vs. me thing. 18 years straight: Hakeem, (Pat) Ewing, Rik Smits, (Tim) Duncan, (David) Robinson, the best of the best, straight up. I never doubled nobody. Nor have I ever asked for double team."
