Today, 7:45EST live on MSNBC

This is a huge game as the winner would get a bye and move directly to the quarterfinals. I know Canada is the favorite but something about Team USA makes me feel like they have a really good chance at winning today. Closer than the experts thing.

BTW, I can't believe crosbyshow doesn't have a thread started for this one. You can add the pictures my friend.

If nothing else, this is a huge confidence game for the US. If they can go into this game, play with Canada for 60 minutes, maybe win, it will go a long way for the rest of the tournament. I would love to see them beat Canada tonight but if not, just want to see them play better than the last 2 games.

A win for the US team means a shot at the #1 seed, and getting to basically only have to win 1 game to get a medal. The #1 seed avoids a good team until the semifinals, whereas the 2, 3 and 4 seeds will have to face a team who can beat them in the quarterfinals.

Gotta pick Canada here. They're just loaded with talent. That's not to say the U.S. CAN'T win, because they absolutely can. But on paper, team Canada should win.

But this is hockey... :)

Good point. Comparable to Giants Pats in '08. A tough outing by the USA could give them the confidence to know they can play with anyone.

Big game for the psyche going into the tourney. I like it.

Canada will win, but nothing would make me happier than to be wrong and see the USA beat the snot out of them.

I was in Pittsburgh the past two days, I didn't have access to a computer. I'm expecting a balls to the wall performance by the US team. Canada will come into this come over looking the youngsters. I say:

3-2 USA in an Upset!!!!

The #1 seed is nice and all but I'll just take a win and a bye. The extra time may be even more valuable in practice as the US can work some kinks out and get their lines down pat.

Brodeur made a huge mistake on that goal. I hope he keeps coming out to play the puck like that all night.

Pretty good first. Can't argue with the scoreboard, if Canada had scored first that place would've been insane. Gotta get some more sustained pressure but I like where Team USA is at right now.

I know Canada has the home ice advantage but the US has to shoot more and gain a little more posession.
