why don't they wear the wind-resistant suits that skiers (sp?) wear when they are competing in a race? They wear these baggie "hipster" clothes (to play off another thread) and it would seem one person would wise-up and go aerodynamic on their ass...

Yeah that really is a good point. The answer probably has to do with sponsors (and money). One would think something more "aero-dynamic" would really provide a significant advantage over the competition.

Probably the same reason why skate boarder contine to wear shorts and short sleeve shirts (even with pads) instead of pants. It's not a part of the culture I guess.

why would skateboarders where pants/long sleeves...they'd rip them if they fell
