So for 30 first place compared to John Wall's 13.

I said it before: If Turner doesn't win national POY then there should be a criminal investigation.

Wow the year of the unknown POY's
James Ingram then Evan Turner. I doubt many could pick either out of a lineup.

It certainly wouldn't warrant a criminal investigation if he didn't, but I'd be fine with Turner winning the award. He's had a great season.
If a guy like Scottie Reynolds was given the award, I wouldn't be too upset. Not only is Reynolds the leader of a team that has sat in the top five for pretty much the entire season, but he's averaged 18 points, 3 assists and shot 40% from three along the way, scoring over 20 on 12 different occasions and pinning 36 points on five-of-five shooting from deep in a huge win at Louisville. He comes to play against the best, and that's what a NPOTY does. In six games against UConn, West Virginia, Georgetown, Louisville and Maryland (Nova has played G-Town twice), Reynolds is netting 25.1 points per.
Turner, however, definitely has the better overall numbers. There's no question. But Reynolds, if Nova wins the Big East and he has some fantastic games to end the season, wouldn't be a bad selection.

I might also recommend Jon Scheyer, but I'm sure I'd get blasted here. Scheyer is putting up some solid numbers, though. In fact, sighting numbers. He's averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.5 rebounds and shooting over 41% from three on the season. He has also led the entire nation in assist-to-turnover ratio for most of the season, and currently is on line to break the ACC's all-time single season record. In his last six ACC games, Scheyer is putting away 21.2 points and nearly 5 assists a night, while shooting an unconscionable 20-of-40 from three. He's recorded 13 20-point games and 2 30-point games, including scoring over 20 in 12 of his last 17 outings. That's a damn good streak, especially when those games are coming in the meat of the ACC schedule. For good measure, Scheyer has eclipsed the six assists mark in 11 different contests.
Not to mention Scheyer plays on a squad that is in the outright lead in the ACC and positioning itself for a legitimate top seed in the NCAA Tournament. And the likely ACC POTY.
When it comes to the actual voting in March, I anticipate Scheyer's placement on this list to be much higher than the Ann Arbor poll would have you believe. He won't win it (unless he has an even more spectacular ACC Tournament, where he pulls off some amazing totals -- which is a scary thought considering how great he's been as it is), but he should be higher up on the docket

Penalized? I'd argue he is better with those players around him. What a luxury to be able to have a solid post player to get the ball to, or a power forward as versitile as Patterson. Not only that, teams can't afford to concentrate/double Wall with the talent around him like that. Those guys HELP Wall and his stats, not penalize him.swamisez wrote: wall is penalized for cousins patterson and bledsoe
I'd also argue that Cousins is having a better season then Wall to be honest. Wall got and had all the hype coming into the season. But since conference play started, which is tougher then OOC, Cousins has been better IMO.

Wall may be a better overall player with Cousins, Patterson, and Bledsoe on the floor. However their presence prevents him from putting up the numbers necessary to be a national poy.

It also means the defensive attention of the opponent isn't singularly focused on him. However their presence prevents him from putting up the numbers necessary to be a national poy.

After the last few games, he has my vote.
Only issue is the team aspect, which voters always look at. Reynolds, Wall, etc have better teams which may prevent Turner. But at this point I doubt it.
