I think this article basically hits the nail on the head. We're going to be taken down the toilet unless those who won't allow for any tax increases at all get behind the drastic cuts needed to allow for it...

so for all those railing about reducing the size of the gov't, here's your chance...get on the phone, write your congressman...tell them you support this plan in replace of mid-sized cuts and tax increases...

tell those old bags that they're gonna have to die or pay their own medical bills, because we can't do it anymore. The old timers are gonna take this country down...

We don't get taxed anywhere near what most of Europe does. Although that's because they're filthy European socialist scum who are clearly misguided.

What's wonderful is that those European elitists that we Americans love to hate are going to be cleaning our clocks economically pretty soon. China is too heavily tied to our economy to be the real threat economically. Though they are growing at a scary pace compared to us.

Not as soon as you might think. Don't get too excited...Socialism doesn't work.

You're right...the Chinese are tied to us very heavily. The only reasons the Chinese economy is out-pacing ours is because the communist government subsidizes their industries, our labor rates are too high & theirs are too low, their currency is under-valued, and the Chinese tend to ignore all the environmental regulations our industries (what's left of it anyways) are forced to contend with.

What goes around comes around. It always does.

If Greece continues to flail I wouldn't be surprised if the EU eventually cuts them loose.

bottom line is that if one side won't agree with anything if it raises taxes, they need to be willing to come to terms with drastic cuts...I'd love to know how many old tea-party members who are getting medicare would be willing to have it reduced for the good of the country...doubtful.

Good luck with that. You probably couldn't get Congress to agree to a new paint color for the walls without 20 forums and committees and countless bribes.

that's the point... all these people screaming about taxes when they are either too stupid or selfish to do what is needed to ensure taxes aren't increased.

Bottom line...this plan is the only one out there that has a prayer of fixing the problem.

I say put the sucker on the floor and vote on it. Sooner rather than later.
