The bf and I are hoping to take a vacation in early June and we are looking for suggestions. The only requirements so far are a beach and beers. I've only been to Ocean City, MD and Tampa, Fl when I was very young so I really have no insight into any other places.

If we find something that's a reasonable drive we'd like to make it a trip with friends but we also have some airline vouchers. If we fly it would likely be just us and there would be a lot more options, obviously. I have friends who used to go to Folly Beach, SC every year but other than that I have nothing in mind. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance. :)

Assuming you're 21, check out Las Vegas. That is a good time of the year to be pool side, and there are tons of flights/hotel deals. Last time I went I paid $80/night at the Bellagio, and the flight was $200. If you're betting at the sports book the drinks are free.

Vegas is actually one of the cheapest vacation locales in the U.S., assuming you don't blow it all in the casinos. Even then there are cheap casinos on the strip.

We are both 25 so Vegas would definitely be okay.

You guys must be hitting it off if you're already planning a vacation together. I remember reading that you met in Dec. and have been together since Jan.

I second MB's post about Vegas. Sin City is great. 24 hours of legal alcohol service is nice. Assuming you're an alcoholic.

If you're still not drinking by JUNE our friendship is over. I plan on going to many Aeros games by that time!

You could say we are hitting it off. And we both have alcoholic tendencies so yeah that would be nice, haha.

First 2 places that came to mind were Holden Beach, which is a nice quiet place, but you might be looking for something w/ a litte more to do. Folly was the next place, close to Charleston, so there is more of a nightlife there.

South Beach, Miami Fl. Beach and beer by day and clubs at night. I live 3 hours from SB and always look forward to going back.

Folly Beach isn't too bad. They have built a couple more bars around so that you can drink. Plus I believe it is still the only beach close to it where you can drink on the beach (out of cups). Downtown Charleston has a lot of bars but it would be a 15 minute taxi ride, not sure how much it would cost. If you just want beach and beer, Myrtle wouldn't be bad. But it kind of sucks. Other then that I got nothin.

Gulf Shores Alabama is a blast and not too touristy. Go down that way pretty much every year and have never had a bad time.

OK here's the deal.

We're trying to get a house/condo somewhere and go with a group of people now(we'll take our vaca sometime later).

We are looking at Put In Bay, since it will be easier to get people to go with us since it's in state. Any places ya'll recommend to stay??

Check out vrbo.com for condos and such. You pick the location and there is a list with description of the places available in that area. Very helpful.

why does it have to be to the beach?

I think my next vacation is going to be to Arizona... would love to play golf out there

Because we like beaches.

I was in Arizona last August and will probably go again before the summer is over.

I'm a beach person, I love walking in the morning and dusk along the shore, and will swim out several hundred yards to get a workout. My wife agrees with you, she couldn't possibly care about a beach, she just wants warm weather and a pool. I don't think I've ever seen her walk more than a few feet into the ocean (she's afraid of sharks). We try to compromise, a scenic swimmer-friendly place for me, at a resort with a great pool and spa service for her.

beaches are highly overrated go to vegas. Or if you have a lot of friends to tag along, go to a big lake in Tennesse and rent a houseboat and load it up with popov.

They aren't overrated if that's what you like to do.
