Many returning soldiers with combat injuries will be facing a life time of physical problems.
Many will encounter financial set back, personal difficulties, physical limitations, continuous medical care and potential long term fear of additional complication as they get older.
Many of the obstacles maybe overwhelming but success, achievement and a satisfying life is very possible.

THIS TREAD IS NOT TO WAIVER ABOUT THE POLITICAL ASPECT OF MILITARY ACTION …… SO STAY FOCUS ON THE CONTENT OF THE POST.

What is in your opinion the value of combat lose of body parts (will not go into function lose, scaring and disfiguring) just the complete lose of an appendage?

So give your estimated value $ per monthly compensation for the following:

Lose of: for simplicity arms and legs will be from the elbow or knee down
One arm
Both arms
One leg
Both legs
One eye
Both eyes
Hearing one ear
Hearing both ears

Difficult to place a cost on something like this but if you could provide any reasoning for your value attached please explain.

The VA and the Government does have a formula for such compensation.

I think some type of a lifetime yearly payment would be suffcient for all except for hearing loss in one ear. The amount just depends in how much you are hadicapped from doing what it is you do to make money. I'd say anywhere from $50,000 a year to $30,000 based on how much it handicapps you.

I really have no idea Belly but in my opinion if a person in the uniform had any of these issues that you delineated in your e-mail, I think our nation has an obligation to give them whatever they require to live as complete a life as possible and not have to worry about medical, psychological, or psychiatric costs at all. Their families should also receive whatever is necessary to assure that they live in dignity. It isn't socialism when the price has been paid in full up front. Some things are just right and need to be done. This is at the top of my personal list of things we need to do for our nations's veterans. Sorry I don't have a better answer as to a dollars and cents allowance for each condition you describe.

My Grandpa was in WWII. He stepped on a land mine, lost and eye and his face was horribly disfigured. He received the ordinary pension of a disabled Vet. I don't know how much it was, but he never received any lump sum of money. He went back to work as a plumber when he was able. He was 37 years old and had 5 kids.

Based on the fact that if you lose both of anything you need enough $ to take care of you for quite awhile. One of anything isnt worth that much.

Is your value base on a per month, year or our right settlement?

I have never heard of the VA giving out a lump sum settlement.
The VA / Government provide those with Military Disability Compensation and monthly payment check. The compensation is for life of the Veteran, tax free and is increase via Congress/ Senate vote per cost of living (sometimes). The percentage of disability determines the compensation. The percentage value is written however different for different injuries. Example the lose of a leg would be (as an example) would be 80% or (as an example represents $1500.00 per mo.)
but a lose of eye would be 80% also but ( as an example represents $1000.00 per mo.) an arm could be 80% or $1200.00 per mo. Adding to those percentage are also additional percentage for scaring, disfiguring and or related complication percentage.

Veteran that receive VA Compensation always receive additional VA medical care, prescription, prosthetics, mental evaluation before and after discharge.

If you lose a limb, you're pretty much going to be 100% service-connected. Once you couple the physical loss of a limb w/ the mental trauma, it's pretty much guaranteed. I would guess in Ohio, that's worth $2,000-2,500/month.

Not really ...Remember we are talking knee down could be rated at only 50% the complete leg would be 80% (as a example don't know that for sure it could be only 70%). Mental trauma is not a factor unless testing show PTSD or something then an additional % is add to the leg percentage.

You can get to 100% on mental disorders alone, depending on the severity.
