I am a White Sox fan and not trying to be a homer, but I would be disapointed with anything other than a playoff run this year.

This lineup when healthy is going to be pretty good on the offensive side and just as good on the pitching front.

I have no idea how the 1-9 order will go, but here is how the regular starting lineup should look.

Juan Pierre (left field)
Alexei Ramirez (short stop)
Alex Rios (center field)
Carlos Quentin (right field)
Gordon Beckham (2nd base)
Paul Konerko (1st base)
Mark Teahen (3rd base)
AJ Pierzynski (catcher)
Mark Kotsay/Andruw Jones (DH)

Starting Rotation is pretty much set
1 - Jake Peavy
2 - Mark Buehrle
3 - Gavin Floyd
4 - John Danks
5 - Freddy Garcia

The Bullpen will have the top 4 guys who all have experience at Closer
Bobby Jenks
Matt Thornton
Scott Linerbink
JJ Putz

I hope we can keep this thread going with some good discussion about the teams and the season.

Really the first time I have looked at the southsiders line-up and rotation, but it does look pretty good. Biggest question marks:
Will Peavy stay healthy, if so he is dominant.
How will Beckham do 2nd year in the league when teams make adjustments to him?
Will Carlos Quentin produce like he did last year?
Will Alex Rios rebound from disappointing seasons in Toronto?
As long as Peavy stays relatively healthy, the pale hose ought to be at the top of the division.

The Twins should be there also. Mauer and a healthy Morneau in the middle along with their other sticks will be a better offense than last year, plus they always pitch. Joe Nathan is lights out.

Who knows what you will get from Detroit. They are talented, but they aren't mentally strong and fold quickly.

The Royals should be improved, but can't see them competing.

The Tribe. If Wedge was managing this team I would expect them to exceed expectations. When we weren't supposed to be that good is when Wedge and the Tribe were at their best. Who knows what we will see this year. The line-up will be OK and so should the pen, but the rotation looks to be awful.

The biggest question mark in the Sox pen is Jenks.

He has really been going south the last 2 seasons and he needs to step it up or he could be out of town by July.

Rios will have some solid protection around him in the lineup this year with Konerko and Quentin, so if he cant rebound this year I dont know if he will get back to the all star caliber player he was.

I always worry about Minnesota. It will be akward seing Thome in that lineup this year.

The big concerns for Minnesota is their starting rotation and run support for them.

Outside or Morneau and Mauer, they really dont have alot of pop in the lineup.

Orlando Hudson should help the Twinkies this year, a lot will depend on what Liriano can bring though.

Hudson was a solid sign for them.

Will he play 2nd or Short?

Tigers shouldn't have much problem hitting and getting production from Verlander and Porcello. What worries me mostly are their 3-5 pitchers and who will finally step up to fill those roles. Hopefully the pitchers they got from Arizona pay off as they are very high on them. They are finally going into a season with everyone healthy so we shall see.

White Sox and Twins will be tough but I think the Twins made the biggest mistake they ever could by going outdoors this year. Their home field advantage in that God awful dome was incredible and now it's gone. Somehow though, with Gardenhire managaing them, they will be right in the thick of things.

^^^Tigers did a GRET job in limiting Porcello's pitch count/innings. I think that will drastically help his "sophomore slump"

However, second year in the bigs is always one of the toughest for players. Their season rides quite a bit on how he performs in the second go round through the league.

^^ Agree wholeheartedly. I think he will be primed to have another good season.

I think the Twins can play with anyone in the American League. Moving into a new stadium and riding the crest of last year's performance has given them the cash inflow to make a good team even better.

Usually the AL Central is hotly contested....not this year...Twinkies in a walk. ChiSox might offer a challenge. Detroit will need a lot of help to contend. No way KC...and Cleveland isn't even on the radar.
