I think Tuitt stays. I think Williams commits, and I think Huggins goes to Rugters.

I think Scarlett commits, but Niklas goes to Cal.

I was never convinced Shuler would commit. He would have been awesome though. He had an OV scheduled for late January, I wonder if that's still planned.

The numbers support that the effort has been coupled with execution. Even with a herky-jerky first half of the season factored in, the 2010 unit has allowed the fewest sacks per pass attempt by an Irish offensive line (4.2 percent) since QB Jarious Jackson was directing the Notre Dame offense in 1998.

And while the Irish running game averages a modest nation's 77th-best 4.0 yards per carry, it's the highest average ND has recorded over a full season since 2003. The Irish outrushed all three of their opponents in November, making them now 26-0 since 2005 when that stat surfaces in the final boxscore.

All this was accomplished by an offensive line with three first-time starters, including Martin, and a personnel group that was initially clearly uncomfortable with the conversion to a spread offense and the way first-year offensive line coach Ed Warinner went about teaching it.
...props to Kelly's staff. They are keepers.

Florida WR commit Ja'Juan Story has been talking to Tony Alford about scheduling an official visit. He is also going to try to visit Oregon. 6'3" 190 and runs a 4.4 40. Probably a long shot but would be a nice get with Shuler committing to Rutgers.

Also #3 2011 QB Teddy Bridgewater has decommitted from the U and given his pledge to Louisville. ND wasn't in the picture but at least they won't have to worry about him when the rivalry is renewed during the regular season.

Molnar can leave. I'm not too worried about that.

The Notre Dame players will have their names on the backs of their jerseys in the Hyundai Sun Bowl.

...per ISD.

Not sure how I feel about it. I guess it's not too bad if it's just bowl games.

I'm pretty sure its a tradition that goes back to Ara. No names on jerseys for the regular season but they did have them for each bowl game. Not a bad tradition. I think they also had this for the Hawaii Bowl a couple years ago.

Ya, I remember seeing it for the Hawaii Bowl and it just didn't look right to me.

Then again, they didn't have the names for LSU, Ohio State, Oregon State, or NC State...so I guess it's a good thing to have the names on the back. It helped to turn around the luck in the Bowl Games in Hawaii...hopefully it'll help the Irish get another Bowl win this year!

Notre Dame High School heading to Dublin also!!

After announcing the site for its first game of the 2012 season, Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame High can feel safe about one thing: It's making a run at longest road trip to start a season.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Notre Dame will kick off its 2012 campaign overseas, facing off against an opponent to be named as part of hoopla surrounding the University of Notre Dame-Navy football game, which has been dubbed the Emerald Isle Classic and will be played in Dublin.

Organizers for the collegiate game are allegedly attempting to line up a number of different high school teams to play in Ireland in conjunction with the college game, and Notre Dame was an obvious pick because of its silimarities in name and uniform with the collegiate Fighting Irish.

The long distance season-opener will take place roughly 5,200 miles from Notre Dame's Southern California campus, which will be a pretty tough mark for any future road trips to surpass. Unless another high school program considers hosting a game in France or another far-flung location like India, Notre Dame may well have a future record on its hands.

Notre Dame coach Kevin Rooney said the program plans to host a series of different fundraisers to help pay for the trip, with a number of fans and boosters also expected to make the trip across the pond. Fans who also want to attend the game can start looking for discount airfare and hotels between August 28 and Sep. 2 some 20 months ahead, when the team will be in Dublin.

My wife and I decided we are making the trip to Dublin for the ND/Navy game.

I wonder how hard it's going to be to talk her into watching the high school game, too?

ESPN is reporting that Steve Addazio of Florida accepted the Temple job. Looks like we've got Molnar for at least another year.

Sun Bowl Depth Chart

Which means, this is what the 2011 depth chart may look like:

QB - ?????Crist/Hendrix/Golson/Rees?????
RB - Wood (JR*)............Gray (SR)

W - Floyd (SR)................Daniels (FR) // Smith (SO)
X - Jones (SO).................Goodman (SR) // Atkinson (FR)
Z - Riddick (JR)................Toma (SO*) //
Y - Rudolph (SR)..............Eifert (JR*) // Welch (SO*)

LT - Martin (JR*)..............Romine (SR) // Nuss (SR)
LG - Watt (JR*)......................
C - Cave (SR*) ..................Golic Jr. (SR*)
RG - Robinson (SR)....................Hanratty (FR)
RT - Dever (SR)...............Hegarty (FR)

--Cave played for a total of 2:03 his freshman year before being injured, I image he received a medical redshirt.

Offensively, well stocked. Get the quarterback situation under control. Spring will be awesome. Funny thing is all of the bold players can return in 2012, and all of the underlined are true freshmen who will more than likely crack the two-deep.

Dan Wenger, who was out all year due to multiple concussions, will be applying for a 6th year. I doubt he would crack the starting lineup given how well Cave played this year, but he would provide some really solid depth at the Center and Guard positions.

I have to admit I'm a little jealous. What a great trip that would be.

If Wenger comes back then it means we didn't get all of the recruits we hoped for. I hope we don't have room for him. Regardless, a man with that many concussions should just freakin' hang it up already.

I don't think he has had more than 2, it just so happened they both occurred with in 3 weeks of each other in fall camp. If there isn't room because Kelly is able to sign an extra stud recruit, that's fine. But if there is room for him I'd take him back, he was penciled in as the starting center heading into camp. Depth is still a concern for the team, so any extra body with experience will not be a bad thing. He would also provide some flexibility as Cave can play center and guard as well.

Ya, we're really looking forward to it. We've been talking about going to Ireland for a few years now. And as soon as I found out ND was playing over there, I knew we had to make it happen. I think it's going to be our last big thing before we try to start our family.
