I can see ND being an offensive juggernaut* in the future.

I put the asterisk there because they will be able to pile up points on shitty teams, and then piss down their legs at bowl games. They'll probably continue to churn out "good" QB's that will do nothing in the NFL. (Quinn, soon to be Claussen)

I.E. they will be a perennial 2009-2010 Cincinnati.

As much as I despise Clifton, I'd sure as hell take that over what I have been seeing on the field in South Bend.

I'm fine with seeing ND win games. What I don't like seeing is ND beating Army, Navy, and the likes...losing to USC, and finishing in the Top 10 of the AP poll.

I could give a fuck less what those QBs do in the pros as long as they win on Saturdays and hopefully in January.

It comes down to recruiting. I know Kelly is a good coach, and as good as UC was he should be able to get the horses he needs at ND. I'll have no judgement for a couple years, but have a feeling he will win enough.

Once again, you're wrong!

Yes, he didn't receive offers from Florida, Georgia and Miami but he did receive an offer from Michigan. He also had offers from LSU, Tennessee, Nebraska and Florida St.

Now, sjm may have been confused with Burton's brother who plays at Florida but this kid has received big time offers. Same old song and dance from the haters........laughable!

Ok, what am I missing here? The following is straight from the article you cited:
“Well I think I’m up to around 20 offers now. Pitt, Duke, Tennessee, LSU, Cincinnati, and Boston College are a few of the recent ones. I actually just hung up with Florida State and they offered me. I already have been offered by Clemson, Notre Dame, Stanford, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Rutgers, FIU, West Virginia, Purdue, and USF. I’m getting lots of mail, North Carolina, Nebraska, and Michigan to name a few who have not offered yet. There is really only one school I can think of I’d like to hear more from and that is So Cal (USC), I liked them a lot growing up.”
And here is his rivals profile:http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Clay-Burton-104436 No mention of offers from Nebraska, Michigan, Miami, Georgia or Florida.

So, what was I wrong about?

5 bcs bowl wins, including 1 national championship and 5 straight conference titles beg to differ.

Sounds better than the one you root for. OSU makes BCS bowl games and wins them. 5-3 in the BCS. I am pretty sure ND has lost every single BCS bowl they have played in. All losses by double digits???? Nice job trying to focus on one position too. Ohio State produces more NFL talent than ND. You aren't even able to pile up points on shitty teams, instead you piss down your leg in those games.

Sorry if it has been mentioned already (didn't want to sift through slingshot and pick6's bullshit) but Kelly received the 11th commitment of the 2011 class last Friday. 3* safety (yes cc, it is three star safety) Eilar Hardy from Pickerington Central had 18 offers from schools including Arizona, Michigan State, Iowa, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. 6'0" 170 lbs and has a 4.49 40. He is the 8th ranked player in Ohio and 12th at his position nationally. It is encouraging to see Kelly have some early success in Ohio but not in the Cincinnati area.

It should be noted ESPN has Hardy as a 3* while Rivals and Scout both have him as a 4*.

Why are you screaming? are you having difficulty controlling the volume of your voice?

ND will be much improved this year, and with Kelly should really start to live up to expectations.

People like to label Kelly as an Offensive coach, but his 07 and 08 Bearcat Teams were both stronger on the defensive side of the ball (Nakamura, Mickens, Smith, Underwood, Barwin, etc.)
Hell Barwin was a TE under Dantonio, Kelly saw his potential on the other side of the ball, he played one season at DE and went in the 2nd round.

goosebumps;403552 wrote:ND will be much improved this year, and with Kelly should really start to live up to expectations.

Mehh. There are a lot of variables. He's got talent and experience to work with at RB, TE, and WR, but QB and OL lack either experience or talent. Two rather crucial areas of the team haha

Defensively is anyone's guess. If they could have stopped anyone last year, we wouldn't be talking about Coach Kelly. There is talent at DL and more so at LB, but the DBs have a modicum of talent and opposing teams will expose it.
