Awesome, awesome article by Time Magazine about Defense Secretary Robert Gates. It is a little long, but well worth a read. Great stories and history of him as well as his pragmatism and policy skills.
Great references to him as the Wolfman in Pulp Fiction (cleaning a bloody mess up ie after he came to the Pentagon after Rumsfeld), his sense of humor, his quiet, low key approach, and his wonderful stories about our brave men and women fighting.

Very good read. It makes one wonder how things might have turned out had he been SECDEF from the beginning.

I saw it, but haven't read it yet. Maybe I'll go do that now.

Finally had time to read the article. Your right it was a long article but once you start you have to read the whole thing. It would appear that he has Obama's ear. A wise move on the presidents part to keep him on.
