If there is indeed a lockout..the NFL will STILL get 5 BILLION dollars from television deals. If if they play zero games. Think there will be a lockout or will they get a deal worked out?

On a scale of one to ten the possibility of a lock out is a 14.
Heard someone in the know say that on ESPN Radio this morning. I didn't catch his name.

Thanks. I was in the car and on the phone, and only caught that part of the entire interview. After hearing that I wanted ot crash my car into a tree. What am I supposed to do on Sundays next fall? I will be very confused.Al Capone wrote:That would of been the head of the players union.THE4RINGZ wrote: On a scale of one to ten the possibility of a lock out is a 14.

They're a year away from that so I'm sure that is just posturing on his part. I love the nfl more than anyone, but there is a part of me hoping for a lockout just to put these players in their place.

Both sides will portray it as the worst case scenario. NFLPA will publicly state they expect a lockout, and the owners will state a lockout could be imminent.
We still have over a year before that happens. 2010 will be uncapped in all probabillity unless a miracle happens in the next few weeks and this doesnt have to be done until March of 2011.

A strike means the players refuse to play. A lockout means the owners wont allow the players to play.

Right now the players get 60% of the total revenues. The owners want it 50-50. But I'm sure there are other sticking points. Also if there is no season in 2011 the owners still get 5 Billion in tv money that they dont have to give to the players.

I imagine owners would be ok with 50/50 split. In what the NFLPA put out they said the owners want it to be in the llow to mid 40's. We all know in negotiations that both sides start at an unrealistic level so they can compromise.Al Capone wrote: Right now the players get 60% of the total revenues. The owners want it 50-50. I highly doubt a lockout actually happens. Both sides are just trying to scare the other, but both know that there's too much money on the line to have a lockout. Even if there is a lockout, they'll probably get scab players like in the late 80s/early 90s. I'd be extremely surprised to see no football
