...for something unrelated to sickness/tragedy (like vacation, extra days at the holidays, personal days, etc.)? Thanksgiving for me.

Took Thurs 1/14 off because I had to head out of town that weekend to referee and I could spend Thurs with the lady.

took off 12/29 to drive back from Ohio for x-mas.

11/12 & 11/13 just to have a long weekend.
May take either Thurs. or Friday on the opening weekend of March Madness off. If I don't do that, I won't take another day until vacation the first week of June.

i always take off for the tourney, but this year I might save it for the week my inlaws come into town (early april) to build a swingset for j_baby.se-alum wrote: 11/12 & 11/13 just to have a long weekend.

I usually do as well, but this year I donated 48hrs of vacation time to my friend/co-worker who was off for 3.5 months due to complications w/ her pregnancy. I'm thinkin' I probably will just take a 1/2 day on whatever day OSU plays, if they play an early game.j_crazy wrote:i always take off for the tourney, but this year I might save it for the week my inlaws come into town (early april) to build a swingset for j_baby.se-alum wrote: 11/12 & 11/13 just to have a long weekend.

Well as a Colts fan I took off Sunday, for obvious reasons.
For the most part, never. I am an independent contractor for a TV sports station. We get assigned events weekly and if we want a day off we just email the others and usually someone will take your shift (or switch theirs with you). So I have only ASKED for this Sunday off ever. Any other times I give up my events as they come if I need a vacation so to speak.

I take off every day I come in later, leave early, come in early, leave later, work into the evening at home, weekend, skip a day, work from home ............ I do what I want to do and when I want to do it... however I still put in over 50 hours a week or more sometime when I travel.
I seldom take long vacation over a week long ........ but I do take two or three per year. (This year I will only be taking two)

couple weeks ago when I sprained my ankle on a Friday Night, I didn't go in Monday because my doc appointment was in the morning and I didn't feel like going in, so I took the rest of the day off.

Last Friday I took a personal day to attend the Annual OATCCC Clinic and Banquet in Columbus. It was very good. I had a rare opportunity to sit down with Joe Newton and talk Cross-Country. it was sort of like worshipping at the feet of the master.

Xmas and New Year's, but then again we didn't have any work, so I didn't really "take time off."
