Just curious to hear your opinion on who will stand out in the 2010 season from this recruiting class. I'm sitting here having visions of our offense in the redzone with Jake Stoneburner and Tyrone Williams as receiving options. That'd be a matchup nightmare when all TP has to do it throw up a jump ball.

None.

OSU had a good class last season and no one made a big impact.

I think either Smith or Hyde will get a RS with my guess leaning towards Smith.

I think Hyde could be used in short yardage situations if he was able to impress the coaches.

Christian Bryant, James Louis, and Corey Brown all have the athletic ability to earn PT. Bryant could make a run if no one else steps up for the open safety position.

Interesting question. OSU doesn't lose much, so it's not like there are a ton of opportunites, and with all the guys waiting their turn it's already hard for freshmen to make an impact.

I think one of the two RB's gets a few carries this year with the other redshirting. Other than that I think only maybe Louis or Corey Brown find the field for a few plays a game.

My surprise non-redshirt is Verlon Reed. I think he could be a surprise special teamer this upcoming season based on his athleticism and size.

Duh, how can we forget.

Hankins will see plenty of time at DT and could possibly be on the two deep right away. I think he'll drop about 10-15 pounds during camp and could be a big impact player if he works hard.

Hankins popped into my head first. Baldwin may have an opportunity to make an impact depending on where he lines up. Bryant or Roby have an outside shot at saftey.

I disagree that no one made an impact last year. How about John Simon? He played a lot and played well. Marcus Hall also got a lot of reps and played very well on key drives in games. Carter played ok but I think there were other people that could have stepped up and filled his spot unlike Simon and Hall, who made an impact.

Simon played well but he wasn't a heavy impact player. I liked how he performed but he only had 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 12 games (his best game was UM with his sack and 4 tackles). I look for those numbers to at least double for Simon next season, the guy is going to be very good.

Roby will be a CB from what I have heard but Bryant could be a very good safety imo.

I disagree about Simon. He got doubled ALOT when he was in the game. I think he had a huge impact on what our other lineman could do when he was in the game.

I love Simon but I am not sure if we can say he had a big impact on the defense this year.

I think he'll be one of our most improved guys heading into next year along with hopefully Etienne Sabino.

^i've been hoping for Sabino to show up for the past 2 years. He just hasn't developed physically or mentally. I think the spring game will be very telling of where he is at.

I think we could get a couple commits at the spring game too. I haven't seen a visit list yet though.

I think James Louis will make an impact immediately on special teams, I bet he will be doing the punt and kick returning. With the transfer of Flash and Ray Small graduating we need someone to step up there. This kid could be special.

I feel like he just hasn't had his opportunity. We are so deep at that position he hasn't gotten a chance to see the field much. He has made some huge hits on special teams so I'm excited to see what he can do when he gets in the mix more!

OSU has other young guys that will be battling Louis for the spot.

One guy that comes to mind is James Jackson who is super fast.

With Ray Small and Taurian Washington gone, if Duron Carter doesn't get his grades in order I could see Williams stepping in there. You'd be crazy not to try and get a 6'7" target the football

Physically, he's ready. Have you seen some of the blows he's delivered on special teams the last 2 years?

Mentally, he just hasn't got it yet. But I do know that B-Rolle has taken Sabino under his wing big time, trying to mentor and tutor him about the scheme.

I think when it's all said and done, Sabino will be fine...just none of us thought it'd take him this long.

I think Ty Williams get to see the field. There is a reason we threw the ball to TP against Texas. You can't cover a 6'6-6'7 WR with a 5'10 DB and expect to be successfull. If Williams works hard in spring ball/preseason, I say he contributes right away.

Very good. One safety spot is wide open as well as the star spot where Moeller and Hines have played before. Johnson, Wood, Barnett, Clarke, Howard and maybe one of the Corey Browns will be competing for those spots.
