I doubt that a new stadium will happen any time soon for Creek. Until they consistently fill the seats they have, there is no reason to build a new stadium. The existing seating is in good condition and bleachers could be added if needed. They are however planning some improvements to the existing stadium. Locker rooms, new rest rooms, and new concession stands are included in the plans.

The boosters would like to have artificial turf installed, but as with everything else at Creek, money is not currently available for this.

I agree with you on the important issues.I was told that it was a 10 year plan.

The current stadium holds between 6500-7500. I don't see a reason to build a new one if we are not filling the current one every game. Buck, I have heard the same info about a field house, new rest rooms, and a new concession stand... I believe that they will be constructed after this current season. This was included in the levy that was passed with the middle school. Also, some upgrades will be made to the H.S. as well.

As far as the turf thing goes, I know the boosters have been working on this. I believe they have the money to install turf, however there are two pressing issues getting it installed... First issue is that they do not want to install it while construction of the middle school is going on, even though booster money is separate from levy money, it could confuse people as to what the money was spent on. Second issue is another tough one. It seems that when the boosters do something nice for the athletic teams, the school asks what the boosters are going to do for them as well. I have heard that negotiations are still going on about the turf. As far as football goes, we should see some updating done to the stadium soon though

I am glad to hear the boosters have been successful in raising money for turf. I don't think the school should expect much of a gift for letting the boosters pay for turf. The turf will save a lot of money for the school. How much does the school pay to mow the field all summer and reseed and maintain the grass? Just the savings in equipment and field upkeep should be substantial.

We all know how hard it was to pass this last levy, sending a message that could be looked at the wrong way would be like taking 10 steps backwards.

Buck, I agree that the school should not have their hand out, but you know how it can be. The school is in need of money and if someone wants to spend it, they would like to have some of it. In a way its not such a terrible thing because the school is in need, but I believe that the booster money should be used for athletics because ultimately thats what they are there for.

I know the school spends a lot of money taking care of the football field. I have to applaud the grounds keepers for doing a great job with the field this past year... SO many expenses could be saved by switching to turf, I think thats why the boosters have been working so hard toward that goal. You have to figure that all the football teams, including pee wee as well as the soccer teams could use it without worry that the field will turn to mush. Plus with the addition of the field house and the other planned upgrades, I think it would look pretty darn good

I heard someone say there were going to be play clocks in both end zones! Anyone else hear this?
I loved being able to see them at the U.L. Game last year.

I think if turf really does cost that much they would be ahead to build a new stadium where the new junior high is going. then they could use the current field for practcing and soccer events.

I'm guessing that in today's world, turf would cost about $600K. Building a new stadium could cost in the millions. I don't think Big Red could raise enough money to build a new stadium if we needed one.

They don't need a million dollar stadium, we don't draw that many people. But a nice field would key and they have the ground for it at the Hills area.

I think you would be surprised at the cost.

I doubt if Creek could build a new stadium without public funds. Considering how hard it has been for Creek to raise money in the past for needed schools, I just don't see a new stadium in Creek's future. Besides, other than the turf, what is wrong with the stadium that is out there now?

Creek does not need a new stadium. The previously discussed upgrades will make their facility more than adequate, and there is room for additional seating if the crowds fill the existing seats on a regular basis.

I agree that Creek does not need a new stadium. Kettlewell is just fine... Plenty of room and room to grow if needed. With some upgrades and turf it will be a very nice medium-sized stadium.

BTW, I have heard of the play clocks... I would count on seeing them soon

Kettlewell is a great place to watch a game. Even with the track you don't feel like you're too far off the field. Many of the newer stadiums with tracks have you sitting too far back. Turf would be a great addition. The only other thing I would say would be an improvement, other than the new additions mentioned above, would be to elevate all of the aluminum bleacher seating so you aren't looking at the backs of the players - especially on the visitor's side.

The cost to build a new stadium with the same seating capacity as Kettlewell, a comparable press box, field house, lights, scoreboard, turf, restrooms, and concession stands would be at least $3million, but probably closer to $4m.

In the town where I live, we just had a gentleman gift $2M for building a new stadium that will have around 6500 seats. The total bill for this facility will be around $5M. It will have all of the same features listed above. So...turf at $600K sounds much more reasonable.

I like Kettlewell the way it is... Yes the aluminum bleachers could use a tad more height, but overall its home. Just need that dang turf and field house

I don't know if I want turf. Some of the best games are played in the mud.
