Why does Struthers get no respect ever for anything? Two loses, Canfield, Poland thats it. With notable wins over:
Labrae, Newton Falls,(both by 25+) Campbell Memorial, Howland, and Hubbard.

So Someone please inform me, as to why you don't consider Struthers (13-2)(3-0) As one of the areas best?!

They have been flying under the radar all season. I hope they make some noise in the tournament. Good Luck Wildcats.

The body of work is still not very convincing. Yes, the wins over Labrae, Newton Falls, and Campbell are solid, but Howland is 5-10 and Hubbard 8-5. These are not real great wins. If they want to be considered in the valley elite, then they need to beat the valley elite, which are Canfield, Poland, Mooney, Harding, and YC. Please forgive me if I have forgotten any others. No disrespect to Struthers because they are having a great season and this program has come a long, long way. I was very impressed with how they battled Poland earlier this season. However, a team really can't be considered one of their area's best until they record a signature win. Once again, the wins over Labrae, Newton Falls, and Campbell are decent, but if you ask anyone from outside the area, they won't be too familar with these teams. Once Struthers comes up with a huge win over Canfield or Poland, it should really open some eyes around the area. Until then, Struthers will still be perceived as one step away.

Youngstwon Christan is not all that. Struthers did play them in a pre-season game, nonetheless it was a game. Struthers did Come away with a victory. 66-61. There were four quarters, refs, the whole shabang! I Just think, Give struthers another shot at Canfield, or Poland they could very well come away with a victory.

Honestly, What has YC and Mooney done to be compared to the likes of Warren Harding!?!

Well for one, Mooney has beaten Canfield. I wasn't comparing them to Harding, just saying that when you mention Mahoning Valley elite this year, most people would mention Poland, Canfield, Harding, YC, and Mooney would probably be considered a "contender". I don't really think Mooney is quite there yet, but the win over Canfield surely helps. I'm not so sure Poland and Canfield even belong in the same category as Harding, just putting them all in the same group for the teams mentioned for the best in the valley. I think Mooney and Struthers are probably in the same boat this season - very good teams, capable of beating anyone on any given night, and real close to reaching the next level. As far as beating Poland or Canfield if Struthers played them again, i'm not so sure about that. I think they are very evenly matched with Canfield, but I think Poland is a bit too deep for the wildcats and the run-and-gun style of play is hard to keep up with. I was actually very surprised Canfield was able to hang with Poland and pull out the win. Coach Cullen always has those kids ready to play and they executed perfectly that night to knock off the Dogs. I think Poland is tough, but there are some obvious flaws on their team as well. Once you beat the press, which many teams are figuring out, it opens up a lot of high percentage shots. I think this will prove to be the Dogs achilles heal if they move on because the boys in the Canton regional will all run the floor just as well as Poland. I do agree with you that a solid argument could be made for Struthers and their progress, but I just feel that until they log a big time signature win, they will continue to be deprived of the respect they deserve.

Well beating D3 when you are D2 not impressive!!!! Don't pay attention to the rankings and papers. Worry about each game one at a time and the respect will come!!!!!

I for one am a big Campbell fan cheering for coach Sav all the time. I hope they make all kind of noise in the tourney. It will take a few years of repeated success before people will give you your due unfortunately. Great year...enjoy it. Build on it...and repeat the same success next year.

As for the elite in the area. Allow me to be biased. Beating Campbell was beating one of the best squads in the AAC. Plain and simple. You also beat a team that IS well known by the state of Ohio in basketball. How many trips to regionals do we have now with a state title under our belt? This year I believe we are now 9 or 10-3, 8-1 in the AAC, and 7-0 in the blue tier. One of our losses came to Cincinnati Princeton. Their only one of the top ranked teams in Div. 1 in the state. We played down in the Ironton tourney as well.......again. So trust me, you beat an elite team that will once again make noise this year. Maybe regional finals if they can continue to gel. Keep it up Struthers. You shut us up this year. Looking forward to payback next year.....WE HOPE!!!

Struthers has some nice players that can really shoot. They have some kids that will compete with you regarless of size. Good mentallity. COuld use a weight room a little more. It is amythe that it ruins your shot. You shoot with your wrist and tricep. At least good shooters do. They have some nice studs at the lower level. TIme will tell if this guy will get them out of Struthers.

I've see Struthers once, against Salem and honestly was not impressed by them. Salem should have won but gave them the game. They do have nice players, some good shooters but have little size. I and others I was with came out of that game wondering how their record was that good.

I'm not trying to talk smack just stating my opinion from the one time I saw them. Maybe that was a bad night for Struthers. They just seem like a team much like Niles was a few years ago. If they're on they can compete with anyone, but one bad shooting night and they can lose by 20.

Struthers has a nice team but if Salem doesn't go something like 3-16 from the line, Salem wins that one going away...

Geez, as soon as I prop up my devils, they fight to keep Brookfield off last night at Memorial and win by 8. lol. Nonetheless, I like what is happening in Struthers.

Yeah, Struthers had a TERRIBLE shooting night vs Salem. And left with a win.. What does that say? Salem may have had a good game, becuase (correct me if im wrong) they just barely beat lakeview? So its possible that Salem just played better then average.

Not to change the subject from Struthers - but since Salem was mentioned - Salem has lost too many close games (I believe 3 of the last 5) and shouldn't have lost these games. Too many mistakes at the end of the game. Salem is better than this - but just doesn't seem to be able to finish the games. Would like to see the fire return that was present at the beginning of the year.

^It's not the boys fault that they are playing this game. Alls they have gone out and done this season was go 15-2 and position themselves to win an outright league title. WHat else can you ask of them?

AND thank you bulldog8, good luck to Poland as well; hopefully we will see the dogs in the tournament ;)

Sports its one game. Number two, when the schedule was made, Struthers had yet to take the court for the season. What do you want them to do....predict what kind of team they are going to have a year later and make the schedule out according to their predictions in terms of how hard it should be?? ;)

I understand that you never know what you have. But please tell me the last time Loweville beat Struthers. COme on Cmhs, you know how important it is to challenge your guys. You of all people??? You alway give your boys more props then sometimes they deserve. You wnat your football team to play hard regardelss and not back down. Even when I know it is going to be a bad out come you are the one who says strap it up and play.

On a year to year basis THe Cats should just handle them. it has nothing to do with their talent this year.
I actually was not bad mouthing the low dogs. They just strap it up and play hard. But it is just not a good match up. If it was in the begining of the year I could MAYBE understand. But to get ready for Poland and Canfield and Mooney. The numbers and logic don't add up. But I am just an old computer science major with a minor in math. What do I know!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways CmH, Good luck to your guys. I have seen them many times. I just love the 2 guards. Man is that Hodge a gamer.

Why are we talking about Salem? Are they even a real team? Hard to really be considered a team when you don't have a coach right?
